SUPPORT SERVICES TO IAESTE
Seminar on IAESTE Development (SID)
SID serves as a means to bring together IAESTE members and co- operating
institutions to discuss issues of best practices, administration, organizational
advancement and development. Unlike the Annual Conference, which
focuses on the exchange of internships, SID provides an opportunity for
delegates from countries to come together and focus on the development
and improvement of IAESTE as an international organization. Work groups
on specific tasks requested by the General Conference sessions from the
previous January provide a forum for debate. The resulting work from the
work groups are refined over the year into recommendations that go back
to the General Conference for official voting and implementation.
Internet Development Team (IDT)
The IDT, Internet Development Team, was founded in Copenhagen in
1998 by volunteers from five different countries, with the goal to deliver
IT services to IAESTE.
The services include anything which the organization requests, such as
web services and e-mail services. The web services include a public website,
www.iaeste.org and a private website. The IDT maintains the public Internet
pages which provide information on IAESTE and links to all members
countries’ home pages and contact details.
Friends of IAESTE Network (FoIN)
More than 300.000 students have been exchanged for technical experience
since the foundation of the Association in 1948. Where are all these
people now, what are they doing and how has IAESTE influenced their
career and personal life? This is the kind of information that the international
IAESTE alumni organization Friends of IAESTE Network is collecting and
sharing with the members.
Members of the Friends of IAESTE Network receive newsletters about
IAESTE activities, news from other members and reports from students
who have been on IAESTE traineeships. A search function also helps
members to locate the friends they have made through
IAESTE.
The network has now more than 7000 members and the
number is increasing by several hundreds every year.
For IAESTE it is important to keep in touch with our
alumni to develop the organization and generate more
placements.
The IAESTE Ombudsman
The post of Ombudsman was created by a decision of the 2001 General
Conference of IAESTE held in Durban, South Africa. The Ombudsman is
an independent person, to whom students can report complaints about
unfair treatment, with the aim of arriving at a fair settlement. The Ombudsman
reports to the General Conference each year about all incidents reported
to him from students. He also proposes measures to prevent similar
incidents in future.
Nicholas Leonard, the retired National Secretary of IAESTE Ireland, is the
first IAESTE Ombudsman.
For further information on the Ombudsman
please go to www.iaeste.org or contact him
at either ombudsman@iaeste.org or write to
