Shutlingsloe Race : 31 May 2004
This race is an excellent family event. It takes place from the grounds of Crag Hall
country house in the remote Wildboarclough. It includes free to enter children's events
( on the tennis courts) stalll teas, cakes and an excellent race course in the tradition of
Lakes guides events. It is, however at under 2 ml 825', all over rather quickly and so
probably not too attractive to those based on the East-side. Simon Bailey has
dominated this event in the last lew years and this year destroyed the opposition and
long standing record. Ibis year no other runners were in serious contention and the
main challenge is to see how far you can get along the return leg before hearing the
crowd cheer Simon home.
I was the only DPFR there but I did break my PB. I heartily recommend this race to
anyone within striking distance.
