JAMES E. SAMPSON NAMED VICE PRESIDENT OF <strong>STV</strong><br />
DALLAS, March 31, 2004 – James E. <strong>Sampson</strong> has been named a vice president of <strong>STV</strong> <strong>Inc</strong>orporated.<br />
In this position, he will continue to be responsible for managing some of the firm’s largest light rail<br />
transit projects. He will report directly to William F. Matts, group senior vice president and head of the<br />
firm’s National Transportation <strong>Group</strong>. <strong>STV</strong> <strong>Inc</strong>orporated is an <strong>STV</strong> <strong>Group</strong> firm.<br />
<strong>Sampson</strong> joined <strong>STV</strong> in 1995, and has over 20 years of experience in managing major transit<br />
improvement projects throughout the United States. He is currently <strong>STV</strong>’s project manager on the<br />
CATS South Corridor Light Rail Transit System project which entails the design and construction phase<br />
services for the first of five new light rail routes in Charlotte, N.C. The proposed $371 million project is<br />
approximately 10 miles long, running from uptown Charlotte to Interstate 485. Recently, <strong>Sampson</strong><br />
completed the management of the General Engineering Consultant team for Dallas’ new DART Light<br />
Rail Transit Program, a $900 million, 25-mile extension to its starter system.<br />
<strong>Sampson</strong> serves as an <strong>STV</strong> instructor for the National Transit Institute (NTI) at Rutgers<br />
University. He teaches courses whose goal is the education and training of federal, state, and local<br />
transportation employees, US citizens, and others engaged in federally aided public transportation work.<br />
The courses are taught in compliance with Section 5315 of the Federal Transit Act, which directs the<br />
Secretary of Transportation to develop and implement a national program of training and education to<br />
make sure that all federally funded transit projects are properly managed.<br />
<strong>Sampson</strong> is a resident of Dallas, Texas.<br />
