This Addendum is being issued for the purpose of amending the subject Request for Bids (RFBs) as below and<br />
is hereby made part of said RFBs to the same extent as though it were originally included therein. This<br />
Addendum makes the following changes and clarifications to the bid documents:<br />

Bidder Questions and Reponses<br />
Question (1): Regarding M/WBE Requirements – Do we choose who we are giving the work? Do we give the<br />
% of work to either MBE or WBE, or is it mandatory to give 20% to both MBE and WBE?<br />
Answer (1): Refer to Section III, Article 2 of the Instructions to Bidders for information regarding<br />
participation by Minority>Owned and Women>Owned Business Enterprises. The Bidder is<br />
required to meet the requirements for participation by New York State Certified Minority>Owned<br />
Business Enterprises (MBE) at 12.00% of the total contract value, and Women>Owned Business<br />
Enterprises (WBE) at 8.00% of the total contract value. Additional information regarding<br />
M/WBE participation can be found in Appendix 2 of the Instructions to Bidders, with a link to the<br />
directory of New York State Certified MWBEs (http://www.esd.ny.gov/mwbe.html). Bidders are<br />
required to select proposed subcontractors for participation in the MWBE program associated<br />
with this project.<br />
Question (2): Drawing G001.00 states to maintain negative air pressure during construction. Is this for the<br />
entire duration of project?<br />
Answer (2):<br />
The GC is required to maintain negative air pressure for the entire duration of the project,<br />
through Substantial Completion.<br />
Question (3): Is there a specific on or off campus location where <strong>STV</strong> trailer can be located?<br />
Answer (3):<br />
There is no space available on campus for the <strong>STV</strong> office trailer. Contractor is required to locate<br />
trailer off campus in close proximity to the project site.<br />

Question (4): Drawing A100.00 – Demo note #3 states to discard and or salvage existing equipment. For<br />
bidding purposes can you specify which pieces get discarded and which pieces get salvaged?<br />
Answer (4):<br />
Equipment to be salvaged will be identified prior to start of demolition. Contractor to include<br />
cost of removal and disposal and/or removal and salvage as part of Total Bid Price. Salvage<br />
includes removal and turn>over to college at a storage location on the Queens College campus as<br />
designated by the college.<br />
Question (5): Drawing A100.00 – Demo note #4 states to remove VCT floor and base. Is this at all rooms that<br />
have existing VCT and base?<br />
Answer (5):<br />
The existing VCT and base, including mastic and adhesive, in all labs and prep rooms within the<br />
scope of work for this project shall be removed (Rooms B237, B241, B243, B245, B203, B211,<br />
D231, and D231A).<br />
Question (6): Is shot blasting of floors required prior to resinous flooring application? And does it have to be<br />
done after hours?<br />
Answer (6):<br />
Shot blasting is required for the preparation of concrete substrates to receive resinous flooring.<br />
See Section 096723 of the Contract Specifications for further details regarding the installation of<br />
resinous flooring. Preparation work and application of resinous flooring shall be performed after<br />
normal work hours. There is no additional compensation for after hours work. See Section<br />
011116 of the Contract General Conditions for further details regarding work restrictions.<br />
Question (7): Drawing A100.00 Note 10 states to remove existing blackboards. Please provide quantity.<br />
Answer (7):<br />
Drawing A100.00 Note 10 has been revised to include removal of all existing blackboards and<br />
whiteboards. Quantity to be verified in field by Contractor.<br />
Question (8): Drawing A110.00/ P601.00 – Which prime provides emergency shower/eyewash?<br />
Answer (8):<br />
The Plumbing Contractor shall furnish and install the combination emergency shower eye/ face<br />
wash units and the deck mounted hand held emergency eye/ face wash units. See Dwg. P>501.00<br />
and Specification Section 224500 (Emergency Plumbing Fixtures) for further information.<br />
<strong>STV</strong> Construction, <strong>Inc</strong>.<br />
Note the following regarding Laboratory Fixtures:<br />
• Plumbing Contractor furnishes and installs Weldbilt Double Compartment Scullery Sink and<br />
associated faucet (Spec Section 224300>2.03) in Rm D231. All epoxy resin sinks (Spec<br />
Section 123553>2.08) are furnished and installed by General Contractor. Associated faucets<br />
for epoxy resin sinks are furnished by General Contractor and installed by Plumbing<br />
Contractor. Air, vacuum and gas turrets are furnished by General Contractor and installed by<br />
Plumbing Contractor.<br />
• Electrical pedestals housing for laboratory casework shall be furnished by General<br />
Contractor and installed by Electrical Contractor.<br />

• The installation contractor is responsible for accepting delivery and storage of material<br />
furnished by other contractor(s), in accordance with the requirements of the contract. The<br />
installation contractor must furnish and install all ancillary components to provide complete<br />
installation for proper operation of equipment and material.<br />
Question (9): Who furnishes and installs smart boards?<br />
Answer (9):<br />
Smart boards shall be furnished and installed by the Electrical Contractor. See Specialty<br />
Equipment Schedule on Drawings A>401.00, A>402.00, A>403.00, A>404.00, and A>407.00.<br />
Question (10): Spec Section 013529 Note 11 – Does GC provide watchmen service?<br />
Answer (10): The General Contractor shall provide security services for the <strong>STV</strong> Construction Field Office<br />
and Equipment. The General Contractor is also responsible for the security of the work site and<br />
to provide suitable site protection to prevent unauthorized entry onto the site, until final<br />
acceptance by CUNY, in accordance with contract requirements.<br />
Question (11): Spec Section 015100>2E – Where can we place temp toilets?<br />
Answer (11): Queens College will provide an area on campus outside the Science Building for the General<br />
Contractor to locate temporary toilets.<br />
Question (12): Spec Sect 05100>3H – Is temp fence required?<br />
Answer (12): Temporary fencing is not required.<br />
Question (13): Spec Sect 011116>11 2.2 a>1 calls for temp barricades. Please provide locations where these<br />
barricades are to be constructed.<br />
Answer (13): Temporary construction barricades are required in the corridors adjacent to the entrances of the<br />
laboratories within the scope of work for this project. General Contractor shall comply with<br />
Section 011116 of the General Requirements for design of the temporary construction barricade.<br />
Question (14): Spec Sect 011116>9 1.9 – Note 9 calls for masonite protection of floors. Can this protection be<br />
left in place or must it be picked up and reinstalled on daily basis?<br />
Answer (14): The General Contractor is permitted to leave protection in place as long as it is maintained on a<br />
daily basis, presents no tripping hazard, and does not obstruct doors or create any type of access<br />
issues, in accordance with the contract General Requirements.<br />

Question (15): Is the existing fire alarm system approved by the fire department?<br />
Answer (15): An allowance of $25,000.00 has been included in the Revised Electrical Price Proposal for work<br />
performed by the Electrical Contractor directly related to correction of non>compliance issues for<br />
the existing Fire Alarm System in the Queens College Science Building. All costs to be verified.<br />
Question (16): Who will be responsible to file the application for plan examination for the additional panel and<br />
devices related to the fire alarm system?<br />
Answer (16): <strong>STV</strong> has filed the application for plan examination for the additional fire alarm panel and<br />
devices.<br />
Question (17): Who is responsible for the design of the new fire alarm system?<br />
Answer (17): <strong>STV</strong> has developed the design of the new fire alarm system as specified in the Contract<br />
Documents.<br />
Question (18): If the fire department requires additional coverage, who will be responsible for the additional<br />
cost?<br />
Answer (18): FDNY requirement for additional coverage exceeding the contract design documents shall be<br />
processed as a change order to the electrical base contract.<br />
Question (19): Drawing FA>001.00 General Note #12 reads “Electrical Contractor shall verify operation of<br />
existing fire alarm pull stations throughout the building for possible replacement.” Can you<br />
please provide count of how many pull stations are in the building?<br />
Answer (19): Attachment No. 21 – Fire Alarm System Pull Station Code Card is included in this Addendum<br />
for your use in determining the existing pull stations throughout the Queens College Science<br />
Building.<br />
Question (20): Who is responsible for the replacement of any non>functioning pull stations?<br />
Answer (20): The Electrical Contractor is responsible for replacement of any non>functioning pull stations,<br />
under the Allowance for work performed by the Electrical Contractor directly related to<br />
correction of non>compliance issues for the existing Fire Alarm System.<br />
Question (21): Drawing E>600.00 note regarding the existing distribution panel reads “…Replace existing<br />
overcurrent device(s) previously serving removed panel(s) with new compatible 200A, 3P + N<br />
overcurrent device (typical).” Who is responsible to verify that existing overcurrent devices<br />
service only the mentioned panels?<br />
Answer (21): The Electrical Contractor is responsible to verify that existing overcurrent devices service only<br />
the mentioned panels, as part of base contract work.<br />

Question (22): In the event that the overcurrent devices service additional load not within the working space,<br />
who is responsible for the temporary power to the additional load?<br />
Answer (22): The Electrical Contractor is responsible for the temporary power to the additional load. The<br />
contractor’s cost to provide temporary power to the additional load will be processed as a change<br />
order for extra work.<br />
Question (23): Since we were not able to see the distribution panels, can you please provide existing distribution<br />
panel manufacturer and model number also the type of breaker required.<br />
Answer (23): Attachment No. 22 – Nameplate Data for Existing Distribution Panels and Attachment No. 23 –<br />
Nameplate Data for Existing Panelboard Units are included in this Addendum for your use.<br />
Question (24): Please provide approximate distance between existing distribution panels and new panels located<br />
inside the labs.<br />
Answer (24): Attachment No. 24 – CUNY QC SB 1 st Floor Directory, Attachment No. 25 – CUNY QC SB 2 nd<br />
Floor Directory, and Attachment No. 26 – CUNY QC SB 3 rd Floor Directory are included in this<br />
Addendum for your use in determining the distance between existing distribution panels and new<br />
