AIR 5398 Air-to-Surface Stand-off Capability, Phase 1A/2
SIMULATION TYPE: Various PROCUREMENT STAGE: Contract
This project seeks to acquire an Air-to-Surface stand-off weapon capability (Air-to-Ground Missile - 142) to
provide ADF strike aircraft with a stand-off capability past the year 2000. The AGM - 142 is being procured
under an FMS contract. The simulation components are threefold and include the modification of the F-111
mission simulator to reflect the new weapon being acquired, the acquisition of a part-task trainer for mission
rehearsal and the acquisition of a mission planning system. A System Maintenance Trainer may also be
acquired. The part-task trainer and mission planning system will be acquired under the FMS contract, while
modifications to the F-111 simulator will be performed as part of project AIR 5208, the F-111C mission
simulator.
