Frank Cerabino Presents:
Finding Humor in the News
For the past 21 years, Grank Cerabino has
been a local news columnist for The Palm
Beach Post. He has learned to mine the news
pages for the stories that make people want
to spew out their morning coffee. Cerabino
will talk about his never-ending quest to find
humor in the news, and what it’s like being
opionated in an easy-to-offend world.
Tuesday, February 26 at 3 p.m.
Professor Mehmet Gurses Presents:
Turkey and Israel: Old Friends
Becoming New Foes?
Turkey, as the first Muslim-majority
democracy, has been at the center of
much controversy. Despite decades-long
westernization efforts undertaken under the
secularist elite control, the Islamists have
emerged as the new power holders and are
increasingly consolidating their grip on
power. The new political elite’s ambitious
plans to re-emerge as a global power have
shifted the political and military balance in
the Middle East. Professor Gurses joined
the Department of Political Science at Florida Atlantic University in
2007. An expert on Middle East politics, Dr. Gurses specializes in
ethnic and religious conflict, post-civil war peace building, post-civil
war democratization, and Islamist parties in the Middle East.
Tuesday, February 5 at 8 p.m.
Hyperion Knight Presents:
The Classical Greats on Piano
Hyperion Knight is a concert pianist who
believes that the great songs of the 20th
century are now entering the pantheon of
"Classical Music". Hyperion's concerts
celebrate all great music, from Ragtime to
Rachmaninoff, Hungarian Rhapsodies to
Rhapsody in Blue. The songs of Gershwin
and Queen are given the same respectful
treatment as the music of Chopin, and along
the way Hyperion shares stories of the
composers' lives and loves to illuminate and
entertain. You may have seen him on concert presentations on luxury
cruise lines including Crystal, Silversea and Celebrity. Now you can
see him at Valencia Reserve. Prepare to be wowed!
Giving Back
The Valencia Reserve HOA is participating in the
Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, Inc. program
to help provide a better holiday for families as they
struggle back to self-sufficiency. You can
choose to donate money, gift certificates
or gifts from their “wish list,” but we ask
that you choose to be a part of this
important program during the holiday
season. Pick an item from the wish
list at the Box Office and bring gifts
in by December 19.
