Fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Celebrant:
Jesus has shown his power over the forces of evil
and by his word bought calm to a tormented man.
1. May those whose mental illness
leads them to inflict injuries upon themselves,
find that medical and emotional support
which will alleviate their distress. Lord, hear us.
2. May those who work with severely mentally ill people
be filled with courage and compassion,
and always show respect for those in their care.
Lord, hear us.
3. May our Federal and State Governments work together to
develop the best possible support for people living with mental illness,
recognizing their various needs. Lord, hear us.
4. May parents of children – young, teenage and adults – with mental illness,
find the support and relief they need through governments, Churches,
and community organizations working together.
Lord, hear us.
5. May families torn apart by hatred, abuse and violence, find in the
dignified response of King David to his own son’s hatred, a model
for themselves and their families. Lord, hear us.
6. May those who honour St Brigid as patron: the people of Kilburn and
Beachport, the students and staff of St Brigid’s Schools at Kilburn and
Evaston, and the people of Ireland, be strengthened in their faith in Christ.
Lord, hear us.

Father, you have shown us the wonders of your love
through your Son, Jesus Christ. Keep us safe from all harm
and help us grow in grace
through Christ our Lord.
