Fourth Week in Ordinary Time<br />

Celebrant:<br />

Jesus has shown his power over <strong>the</strong> forces <strong>of</strong> evil<br />

and by his word bought calm to a tormented man.<br />

1. May those whose mental illness<br />

leads <strong>the</strong>m to inflict injuries upon <strong>the</strong>mselves,<br />

find that medical and emotional support<br />

which will alleviate <strong>the</strong>ir distress. Lord, hear us.<br />

2. May those who work with severely mentally ill people<br />

be filled with courage and compassion,<br />

and always show respect for those in <strong>the</strong>ir care.<br />

Lord, hear us.<br />

3. May our Federal and State Governments work toge<strong>the</strong>r to<br />

develop <strong>the</strong> best possible support for people living with mental illness,<br />

recognizing <strong>the</strong>ir various needs. Lord, hear us.<br />

4. May parents <strong>of</strong> children – young, teenage and adults – with mental illness,<br />

find <strong>the</strong> support and relief <strong>the</strong>y need through governments, Churches,<br />

and community organizations working toge<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

Lord, hear us.<br />

5. May families torn apart by hatred, abuse and violence, find in <strong>the</strong><br />

dignified response <strong>of</strong> King David to his own son’s hatred, a model<br />

for <strong>the</strong>mselves and <strong>the</strong>ir families. Lord, hear us.<br />

6. May those who honour St Brigid as patron: <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Kilburn and<br />

Beachport, <strong>the</strong> students and staff <strong>of</strong> St Brigid’s Schools at Kilburn and<br />

Evaston, and <strong>the</strong> people <strong>of</strong> Ireland, be streng<strong>the</strong>ned in <strong>the</strong>ir faith in Christ.<br />

Lord, hear us.<br />

Fa<strong>the</strong>r, you have shown us <strong>the</strong> wonders <strong>of</strong> your love<br />

through your Son, Jesus Christ. Keep us safe from all harm<br />

and help us grow in grace<br />

through Christ our Lord.
