SERIOUS ABOUT HITTING
PACT Championship Timer
At the 1982 I.P.S.C. National Championship
we showed a prototype of the first serious
shooting timer to a few of the shooters there.
Folks like Mickey Fowler, Ross Seyfried, Mike
Plaxco. Brian Enos. Chip McCormick and some
kid named Robby. We asked that they let us send
them one and, in return, that they tell us what they
liked and more importantly what they didn't like.
Their input was the bases for our original
Championship Timer. While some new names
have been added to the list, this process continues
to this day.
Over the last decade we've had some 31
software revisions to the Championship Timer.
While many of these innovative features originated
with the "big boy's" the majority of them came
from folks like you who used our products and
took the time to call or write with your criticisms
and ideas for new features. This process produced
the timer that all of the top shooters use
for their vital practice sessions. Think about it,
these folks can have any timer they want, yet
they all train with a PACT MKIV Championship
Timer.
Who Cares?
It's real simple. To improve, you're going to
have to practice a lot (what a surprise). While you
do this, you'll have to keep track of the two elements
of marksmanship you are striving to master:
accuracy and speed. Would you consider
practicing without a target? Of course not.
Because without a target you have no feedback,
no measure of your accuracy. There is little to be
learned by spraying bullets into the back stop. In
the same breath, without a timer you have no idea
of how long it took you to generate a given level of
accuracy. Your subjective "feel" for how long a
given drill is taking you is almost always wrong.
Without a timer you have no feedback. no way of
knowing whether or not a certain technique or
piece of equipment is helping or hurting you.
Shooting timers, like guns, are not created
equal. A training timer must do much more then
simply give you the time for your string. It must
help you analyze your shooting, in a simple
straight forward fashion, without forcing you to
endlessly Jack around with it. It must also provide
you with 'cue's" (in both dry and live practice) to
encourage you to pick up the pace in the right
spots and slow down where you need to
Even More Brains
The MKIV features a "Hot Key" user interface
which makes it easy to access our exclusive
advanced training features. In addition, since
we've got the computing power anyway, we've
included a full function ballistic computer at no
extra cost! This will help you zero your gun to
perfection (yes you can use it to help you bag
Bambi). The MKIV also contains a lead calculator
(useful for those of us who don't have a mover in
our back yard). A rate of fire indicator for the buzz
gun folks (and those of you who think you can
whip Ed McGivern) And a cadence function for
dry fire practice. The MKIV has a huge memory to
incorporate future software upgrades. What form
will they lake? You tell us!
