● Researching the development of pi and subsequently
creating an appropriate timeline that was
linked to a world map in History and Geography.
● Designing, creating and playing maths games in
the primary school.
● Writing tangram tales in the primary school.
The day had a most positive outcome with all
goals being achieved. Newspaper publicity of the
event showcased the success of the day to the
wider community. When the final photo, showing
the birds-eye view of the digit formation, was
unveiled, students gained a global perspective of
the momentous occasion. Individuals were
thrilled to find themselves in the throng of people,
reminiscent of ‘Where’s Wally’ readers. The hype
created clearly demonstrated that Maths at ISB is
a lot of FUN!

The Alliance for International Education’s
October 2006 Conference
The AIE is actively preparing for its next Conference, due
to take place in Shanghai on 27 to 29 October 2006.
The AIE aims to bring together all those who are committed
to advancing international and intercultural understanding
through education. Educators eager to explore and reflect on
‘Educating for Global Citizenship’ are invited to join
inspiring keynote speakers and expert presenters at this
Conference. Delegates will work in strands; will be
presented with results from the latest research and with
successful and exemplary practice.
