Khalid Bin Waleed PersonalQualities:Best Horse Rider:Khalid bin Waleed belongs to the warrior family ofBani Makhzum which was responsible for mattersof war. They trained the horses on which theQuraish rode to war and provided the officers tolead Quraish groups into battle. This role of theBani Makhzum set the atmosphere in which Khalidwas to grow up. As a Makhzumi he was taught toride on horse and soon acquired mastery over theart of horsemanship .He had the ability to ride anyhorse and not only trained horse. The BaniMakhzum were among the best horsemen ofArabia, and Khalid became one of the besthorsemen of the Bani Makhzum.Fulfilled and Expertise with Art of Wars:Besides riding, Khalid also learned the skills ofcombat. He learned to use all weapons-the spear,the lance, the bow and the sword. The ones forwhich he appears to have had a natural gift werethe lance, used while charging on horseback, andthe sword for mounted and dismounted dueling.As a wrestler, he climbed high on the ladder ofachievement, combining consummate skill withenormous strength.this was conveyed to Khalid, it changed his heartand suddenly he began to see the light of truth.After the entrance in Islam, Khalid bin Walidbecame the foremost champion of Islam. Hefought many decisive battles, humbling hisopponents and bringing victory to Islam. He wasthe first Muslim commander to leave Arabia toconquer foreign lands and humble two greatempires.The Holy Prophet (Pbuh) once said,“Khalidisoneoftheswordsof<strong>Al</strong>lahwhichhehasThus, it was that Khalid bin Waleed came to beknown as ‘Saifullah’ or the “Sword of <strong>Al</strong>lah,”usedagainsttheunbelievers.”Last Moments of Great Conqueror ofIslam:Sometime in 642 (21 Hijri), at the age of 58, Khalidwas taken ill. This last illness proved too much forhim; and Khalid's sick bed became his death bed.A few days before his end, an old friend came tosee him and sat at beside him. Khalid to his friend,WhycouldInothavediedinbattle?" "Ihavesoughtmartyrdominahundredbattles.his friend.13Glorious and Chivalrous Appearance:As Khalid grew to manhood, he attained a greatheight-over six feet. His shoulders widened, hischest expanded and the muscles hardened on hislean and athletic body. His beard appeared fulland thick on his face, with his fine physique, hisforceful personality, and his skill at riding and theuse of weapons; he soon became a popular andmuch-admired figure in Makkah.Conversion To Islam and achievements in hisleadership:At last, the great conqueror, magnificent horserider, best commander Islam, best lance andspear champion left his battlefield for ever andfinally his last sayings are:enemyof<strong>Al</strong>lah;andthatcouldneverbe."replied"YoumustunderstandthatwhentheMessenger of<strong>Al</strong>lah,onwhombetheblessingsandpeaceof <strong>Al</strong>lah,namedyouSaifullah-theSwordof<strong>Al</strong>lah,he predeterminedthatyouwouldnotfallinbattle.If "Youcouldnotdieinbattle",meantthat<strong>Al</strong>lah'sswordhadbeenbrokenbyan youhadbeenkilledbyanunbelieveritwouldhaveKhalid, although still bitterly opposed to Islam,was noted for many excellent qualities. He was anextraordinarily resolute and temperate man. Thisprompted the holy Prophet (PBUH) to mentionthat Khalid bin Waleed could not be veryunmoved by the message of Islam. Indeed, whenIamtheSwordof<strong>Al</strong>lah “Iamthenoblewarrior;Khalidbin<strong>Al</strong>Waleed!”
