or a sort of headache from the studies, atleast notbefore the summer vacations.But after summer vacations, the winds start toblow from the contrary direction. The scenariochanges drastically. Sessional vivas, test and finalpresentation compel the student to get down tostudies again. But this compulsion seems to be invain as most of the students intend to study justfor one month before the examination. When thelecture copies are opened, these students thenrealize that their work is incomplete, and that iswhy, a hell of rush can be seen at the photocopyshop. Furthermore, to understand the core pointsof the lecture, combine studies are arranged ateach other's home or even in the university. Thus,the preparation is done, and almost all thestudents manage to pass the examination.Regarding examination, an incident will alwaysknock at my memory………the one which almostthe majority of the students (belonging to 2006-2007 batch) would have experienced in solidmechanics I paper. As soon as the paper wasdistributed in the class, the atmosphere of theclass changed. At least for the initial half n hour,the students were merely glaring at each otherwith a big question mark on their faces. They wereflabbergasted and anxiety was prevailing overthem. Actually the paper was quite difficult andunexpected and the students were not mentallyprepared for it. But some how the studentsmanaged to attempt the paper, and the situationwas remarkably tackled by our chairman and thefaculty members. And in the end, the students gotthe benefit.Thus, exams in NED are like monsoon period, itcomes and passes away. The new session beginsand the cycle is repeated once again….How Difficult is to leave NEDBy: Sumaiyah MurtazaIM-82/ B.EIt’s a part of human nature that one always getsattracted by the thing that isn’t very muchaccessible or within scope apart from valuing thegems you have already been provided with!!!!The picture is still there, somewhere in the hindcell of my brain, when I was striving for acaretaker to feed me in terms of knowledge andsurely to up bring me in terms of behavior. Anddestiny chose for me “NED”.Although it seemed intensely difficult toaccommodate within this all new world where Ihad just opened my eyes, yet there were hopes.Getting back home @ 5 pm having burdens inmind for homework and engaged SUNDAYS, mademe restless. At that moment it clicked in mind that“how could I pass this span?” IT’S A HARD NUT TOCRACK…… And off course a question that hasalways pinched me that “HOW DIFFICULT IS TOLEAVE NED?”TODAY after a bit long, knowledgeable & offcourse tough voyage I am standing at anotheredge, where this NED is no more a change, ratherit’s a routine. But Alas! Time is now alerting me foranother new big change. It’s near when myagreement with my caretaker is going to expire.Oh no! I am not at all prepared to leave myfriends. As for sure I will be missing the fascinatingdepartment building. How would I be able to flushaway memories of those sites where I used to sitalong with my friends being on bunk, andcompleting assignments at the eleventh hour…. Icould never find a gathering place like “Mechcorner” where we planned for timeouts and funget-togethers.How could I imagine forgetting thejourney right to the university within “NEDSHUTTLES”, where I felt an emotion ofassociability? People looking at with theirbewildered faces pumped me up with a feel ofpride.There is a lot more to say, to write & off course tofeel but it is not possible to share that all.Today I am having the same question but themeanings are totally inverted. The question todayis equally pinching but don’t know how to resolvethis issue ……there is a request to all NEDIANS ….Do avail your chance… NED is a very rewardinginstitution….the feelings that exists are off courseambivalent….. At one corner the pleasure ofachievement & at the other end that very popularquestion that“HOW DIFFICULT IS TO LEAVE NED????”“HOW DIFFICULT IS TO LEAVE NED????”17
