Also included willbe pathways that help adults move into STEM careers. The site provides users withcomprehensive <strong>and</strong> individually tailored information on career <strong>and</strong> educational options.Learn how the Wizard brings together critical tools for students <strong>and</strong> administrators.Computer not required to attend.Through partnerships between community colleges <strong>and</strong> adult education, Virginia isbuilding bridges to college <strong>and</strong> careers for adults who lack a high school diploma or GED.This interactive session focuses on how two Virginia transitions programs, MiddleCollege <strong>and</strong> PluggedInVA, assist this population in preparing for higher education <strong>and</strong>careers.Career coaching has become a highly effective way to guide Virginia’s citizens througheducational <strong>and</strong> training opportunities <strong>and</strong> into industries seeking a trained <strong>and</strong> careerreadyworkforce. Virginia is bringing together coaches who provide service to high schoolstudents, dislocated workers, foster youth, high school drop-outs, <strong>and</strong>unemployed/underemployed citizens. This session will provide an overview <strong>of</strong> coachingin Virginia, the characteristics <strong>and</strong> barriers <strong>of</strong> the populations being served, <strong>and</strong> Virginiacollaborative approach to combine training, pr<strong>of</strong>essional development, <strong>and</strong> casemanagement.Virginia’s Career Coach Program provides students with unique access to postsecondarytraining <strong>and</strong> careers using a model that is accountable to stakeholders with extensivedata collection techniques <strong>and</strong> supports Virginia’s career pathways plan. Thepresentation will provide an overview <strong>of</strong> the model <strong>and</strong> highlight thelocal/regional/statewide management <strong>of</strong> a career coach program, including how to getbuy in from college <strong>and</strong> legislative leaders to start the program <strong>and</strong> drive funding.Updates on the Career Coach Certification will be provided, including collaboration on theadult coaching model.Successful career pathways systems are built on trusting relationships <strong>and</strong>communication between public <strong>and</strong> private partners. As a portal to the Career PathwaysSystem, the Rapid Response Program in Virginia will share ways to exp<strong>and</strong>services/resources by capitalizing on partnerships that include business, workforce, <strong>and</strong>economic development representatives, in addition to local, state, <strong>and</strong> federalgovernment entities. Evaluative outcome reports from the Joint Forces Comm<strong>and</strong>Transition Center will be shared to illustrate our success.
