Attendees learn how toinstitute a similar process, resulting in academic success for students <strong>and</strong> recruitingsuccess for colleges.Indiana is in the second year <strong>of</strong> implementation <strong>of</strong> its GED+ program, which <strong>of</strong>fersoccupational training to adult education students in six industry sectors: advancedmanufacturing, TDL, healthcare, business, IT, <strong>and</strong> construction. We will give an overview<strong>of</strong> Indiana’s statewide framework <strong>and</strong> grant process, examples <strong>of</strong> successful programdevelopment at the local level, <strong>and</strong> initial outcomes data.Learning science in the context <strong>of</strong> industrial applications is a paradigm shift that opensdoors to careers in biotechnology. Partners in Florida have developed programs for multilevelcareer pathways in biotechnology, including an entry-level, industry approvedcredential <strong>of</strong> “Biotechnician Assistant” earned through our secondary program, whichleads to employment <strong>and</strong>/or statewide articulation agreement into the state’spostsecondary biotechnology programs.The key components <strong>and</strong> elements <strong>of</strong> this presentation is the use <strong>of</strong> innovative skillsdevelopment for CTE using web-based designed math st<strong>and</strong>ards in CTE courses incomputer-aided drafting, automotive, woods, <strong>and</strong> culinary arts.Introducing IRT, an online instructional resource tool that CTE teachers can use toaccess curriculum resources aligned with specific content skill st<strong>and</strong>ards. The tool wasdeveloped from an extensive curriculum mapping process that aligns CTE skill sets,academic st<strong>and</strong>ards, CTE technical writing prompts, technology resources, project-basedlearning, <strong>and</strong> formative <strong>and</strong> performance assessments. Participants can discover themapping process, valuable teaching resources, formative <strong>and</strong> performance assessmentstrategies, <strong>and</strong> experience the capabilities <strong>of</strong> the online IRT. Computer not required toattend.An estimated 90 million Americans lack the basic literacy, numeracy, <strong>and</strong> Englishlanguageskills needed for continuing education <strong>and</strong> good jobs. Instruction that combinesfundamental education with technical skills known as “integrated training” is crucial toworkforce development programming for workers who lack these basics.
