Integrating three different design courses, students use theirs<strong>of</strong>tware knowledge from a concept to produce a product. These practical applicationsimplemented by staff <strong>and</strong> students lead to earning financial support for their programs.This presentation will describe the process <strong>of</strong> successfully implementing iPads into thefamily <strong>and</strong> consumer sciences middle school curriculum. Presenters will explain the fourphases <strong>of</strong> the process: planning, preparing, implementing <strong>and</strong> evaluating. Presenters willalso discuss project-based learning <strong>and</strong> student engagement. iPads not required toattend.Do you have experience using iPads or other tablets in your school? This session isdevoted to those who have dabbled in this new magical device <strong>and</strong> used it to help youteach, a tool for your students, or school. Participants in the program can gaininformation on braiding funding streams to assist students in accessing career <strong>and</strong>technical educational programs.Attendees can expect to gain insight on how to integrate CTE into the everydayclassroom instruction. Attendees will also learn to use problem <strong>and</strong> project-basedlearning to effectively cover the new Core Content St<strong>and</strong>ards. Attendees will benefit fromthe session by becoming more familiar with one <strong>of</strong> the most effective instructionalpractices available.Learn about Maryl<strong>and</strong>’s cybersecurity career pathway. The pathway is based on directarticulation with the Centers <strong>of</strong> Academic Excellence <strong>and</strong> supports the NICE Framework.It integrates both industry competencies/certifications <strong>and</strong> the career cluster knowledge /skill sets aligned with stackable credentials. Find out about the Maryl<strong>and</strong> program <strong>and</strong> anational rollout.Participants will benefit from learning the latest findings from the NRCCTE curriculumintegration projects. They will also leave with some practical "takeaways" that can beapplied in the development <strong>of</strong> career pathways.The Convergence Technology Center <strong>and</strong> BATEC Center for IT have been successful inrecruiting <strong>and</strong> retaining active business <strong>and</strong> industry leadership teams that guide theCenters in reimagining IT careers, resulting in students being right-skilled to rapidly gainemployment. Participants will learn strategies <strong>and</strong> techniques to build dynamic businesspartnerships.Micromessaging to Reach <strong>and</strong> Teach Every Student is a rigorous pr<strong>of</strong>essionaldevelopment program for secondary <strong>and</strong> postsecondary STEM <strong>and</strong> CTE educatorsdesigned to increase the participation <strong>and</strong> academic success <strong>of</strong> their students with anemphasis on underrepresented populations, including women. Pilot data hasdemonstrated significant impact for all students.Learn how a high School physics instructor incorporates physics-driven problem-basedlearning (PBL) projects to engage students <strong>and</strong> demonstrate relevance. SC ATEpresenters will describe their collaboration, share, ready-to-implement PBL projects <strong>and</strong>discuss a SC curriculum alignment project.This presentation will highlight Ohio’s commitment in maintaining the Tech Prepphilosophy throughout the CTE system despite the elimination <strong>of</strong> federal Perkins fundssupporting Tech Prep. Learn how Ohio changed from a twenty-three college Tech Prepconsortia structure to six college Tech Prep regional service centers supporting <strong>and</strong>facilitating Tech Prep/Program <strong>of</strong> Study applications, bilateral articulation agreementdevelopment, <strong>and</strong> college readiness assessments <strong>and</strong> interventions.Designing Instruction for Career Pathways (DICP) is a project funded by the U.S.Department <strong>of</strong> Education s Office <strong>of</strong> Vocational <strong>and</strong> Adult Education that seeks to assiststate <strong>and</strong> local adult education providers as they develop <strong>and</strong> implement adult careerpathways programs that are designed to help low-skilled adults succeed inpostsecondary education <strong>and</strong> employment. DICP is managed by Kratos LearningSolutions in partnership with the Center for Occupational Research <strong>and</strong> Development.Participants will learn how to get involved in the leading career pathways movement inadult education.
