Configuring user workstationsFor iSCSI technology to work correctly on end-user computers, you need to install iSCSIInitiator software (if it is not provided with the operating system). For Microsoft Windows2000/XP/2003 systems, it is an option and the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator is available fordownload from the Internet.Correct software configuration depends on installing individual “target volumes” by addingdrive letters to the system (in Windows XP and 2003) or as subfolders as in UNIX systems.All these functions are available in Windows via “Administrative Tools” > “Disk management”.How to connect iSCSI in Windows 2000/XP/2003:a. First, you have to install the iSCSI Initiator package. You must be logged in asadministrator to install the Microsoft iSCSI <strong>Software</strong> Initiator package.b. Next, launch iSCSI Initiator software.c. If you set passwords on iSCSI and Target Access, on branch “General”, click “Secret”,enter your passwords, and after entering each, click the “OK” button (yourpasswords are “Target secret”).d. In the “Discovery” branch, click the “Add” button, then enter your b.<strong>center</strong> IP address.e. Next click the “Advanced…” button and highlight “CHAP logon information”. ProvideUser name and Target secret and then click the “OK” button twice.f. In the “Targets” branch you will see the names of the available iSCSI targets, e.g.“iqn.2006.10:belinea.target0”.g. Click the “Log On” button. If you entered a password, you will have to proceed as in step“e”. Click the “OK” button. The status of the chosen target will change to “Connected”.h. Next choose “Settings” > “Control Panel” > “Administrative Tools” > “ComputerManagement” > “Disk Management”.i. Now all available iSCSI TARGET drives will be displayed. In order to use them, youwill need to format them and mount them by adding a drive letter./ NoteMicrosoft iSCSI Initiator ver. 2.02 does not support dynamic disks. The target passwordmust consist of minimum 12 and maximum 16 alphanumeric characters. Please read the<strong>Manual</strong> and Release Notes of Microsoft iSCSI Initiator for more details, which you can alsofind on the Microsoft website./ NotePlease make sure that the time settings on your <strong>Belinea</strong> b.<strong>center</strong> iSCSI target and clientstations are the same. Time can be synchronized in the web interface under “SETUP” >“hardware” > “Set time”.32 Configuration
