RAID6: Stripe + parity algorithm array; requires minimum 4 units with equal capacity. You canchoose from the listboxes: (layout)parity-algorithm [left/right] [symmetric/asymmetric].The destination size of the RAID array will be: (NR_OF_UNITS-2)*(SINGLE) UNIT_SIZE,where (SINGLE) UNIT_SIZE is the size of the smallest unit in the array. The (layout) parity-algorithm in RAID 6 is described below.RAID 6 (layout) parity-algorithmYou can set one out of four algorithms for the placement of data blocks and parity blocksin the matrix. Our default option is left-symmetric which is the best for large reads. Otherrecommended value is left-asymmetric.Left-Asymmetric AlgorithmRight-Asymmetric AlgorithmUnit S0 Unit S1 Unit S2 Unit S30 1 Parity Parity2 Parity Parity 3Parity Parity 4 5Parity 6 7 Parity8 9 Parity ParityLeft-Symmetric AlgorithmUnit S0 Unit S1 Unit S2 Unit S30 1 Parity Parity3 Parity Parity 2Parity Parity 4 5Parity 6 7 Parity8 9 Parity ParityUnit S0 Unit S1 Unit S2 Unit S3Parity Parity 0 12 Parity Parity 34 5 Parity ParityParity 6 7 ParityParity Parity 8 9Right-Symmetric AlgorithmUnit S0 Unit S1 Unit S2 Unit S3Parity Parity 0 13 Parity Parity 24 5 Parity ParityParity 6 7 ParityParity Parity 8 9To remove a RAID: If previously added to a Volume Group please enter console Extendedtools (press F1 on console to find out keyboard shortcuts) and delete the Volume Groupof the RAID (Delete content of units function in Extended tools menu). Then the Removebutton will be enabled. Otherwise simply click the Remove button./ NoteYou can add spare units to RAID1, RAID5 and RAID6 arrays. Note that after creation of anRAID, the synchronization progress will be shown in the “Info” function. Until this processis finished, all actions performed on this array will be slowed down a bit./ TipIf LUNs (under iSCSI) come from the same target, then it is not recommended to createS/W RAIDs on these Units, because this would slow down the system. If LUNs come fromtwo different targets, then you can create S/W RAIDs without a problem.48 Description of Functions
