Students are not permitted <strong>to</strong> open security screens in bedrooms or common spaces for<br />
any reason other than during an emergency situation.<br />
> Painting walls, ceilings, doors, university furniture, etc. is strictly prohibited.<br />
> The use of marking chalk or aerosol spray cans <strong>to</strong> mark/paint any surface of the residence<br />
halls is strictly prohibited.<br />
> Please do not hang any items that obstruct electrical or lighting fixtures.<br />
> Please do not hang items from the ceiling.<br />
> Removing, damaging or covering smoke detec<strong>to</strong>rs or carbon monoxide detec<strong>to</strong>rs with<br />
any material is strictly prohibited.<br />
> Please do not install personal locks or chains on bedroom doors, closet doors, or window<br />
sashes.<br />
> Please do not remove closet doors (either freestanding or built-in) from their hinges for<br />
any reason.<br />
> Please do not damage, either maliciously or carelessly, university or the personal property<br />
of others.<br />
The following items are strictly prohibited from the residence halls:<br />

> Air conditioning units (unless medically cleared)<br />
> Candles, incense, or any item that produces an open flame (even if unlit)<br />
> Cooking appliances including microwaves, hot pots, rice cookers, “Foreman Grills,” and<br />
any other appliances with open coil-heating elements<br />
> Dartboards (with metal tipped darts)<br />
> Excessively loud speakers and amplifiers<br />
> Explosives, including fireworks or incendiary devices<br />
> Grills (both outdoor and indoor)<br />
> Charcoal and lighter fluid<br />
> Halogen or multi-armed floor/desk lamps<br />
> Unauthorized upholstered furniture<br />
> Installed satellite systems<br />
> Pets/animals (except approved service animals or fish in tanks no larger than 10 gallons)<br />
> Space heaters<br />
> Waterbeds, jacuzzis, and/or hot tubs<br />
> Weapons/firearms/knives (including martial arts equipment either replica or practice and<br />
paintball equipment)
