GEMS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIESCENTRICITY <strong>PACS</strong> <strong>1.0</strong> <strong>CONFORMANCE</strong> <strong>STATEMENT</strong>REV 0, MAY 2002 IIS FP 106175.2.4 Extended Character SetsThe Q/R AE may per<strong>for</strong>m a data coercion in a SOP Instance sent to the data retrieval requesting AE, inorder to update the data set with the in<strong>for</strong>mation maintained in the <strong>Centricity</strong> database. The PatientName (0010,0010) may be multi-valued to include Ideographic and Phonetic name groups in additionto Alphabetic Name. This will be done if the receiving AE has been configured to intend to receivethese additional names and these are available in <strong>Centricity</strong> database. While the Alphabetic Name isalways encoded with ISO-IR-8859-1 character sets, the Ideographic and Phonetic Names can beencoded with other dual-byte character sets as listed in Section 2.7. In the current release, the DICOMServer will not add text in<strong>for</strong>mation encoded with extended character sets into other data elements.See <strong>Centricity</strong> service documentation <strong>for</strong> the peer AE configuration method.5–48
