The scenario planning process was institutionalized <strong>and</strong> the scope of management oversight, on Asset <strong>and</strong>liability management <strong>and</strong> balance sheet optimization framework, was improved.In relation to trading position risk, we improved our trading systems <strong>and</strong> middle office functions as part of our strategy of revampingsales <strong>and</strong> trading business model. These improvements reaffirmed our discipline <strong>and</strong> practices around market data sourcing <strong>and</strong>maintenance, <strong>and</strong> enabled the upgrade of trading risk monitoring processes with more sophisticated market volatility - basedportfolio risk measurement tools that were introduced for key portfolios.Our commitment to strengthening off our risk management oversight roles during the year are considered prudent, against thebackdrop of limited sales <strong>and</strong> trading activities in the face of increased revenue pressures.Foreign Exchange RiskThe Group takes on exposure to the effects of fluctuations in the prevailing foreign currency exchange rates on its financial position<strong>and</strong> cash flows. The board sets limits on the level of exposure by currency <strong>and</strong> in aggregate for both overnight <strong>and</strong> intra-day positions,which must be in line with regulatory Open Position Limits (OPL). Compliance with both internal limits <strong>and</strong> regulatory OPL is monitorsdaily.
