During theschool year, the Clubs were open after the regular schooldayhours, ranging from one in the afternoon to nine atnight. Three Clubs operated a little under six hours a day,five operated six hours a day and two operated seven hoursa day.Half of the Clubs in the study had weekend hours available.There were some Clubs that offered special hours forteens: For example, one Club offered Saturday hours forjust their teen members, and another offered activities until11 at night on Fridays. In addition, many Clubs created specialactivities that extended their hours; for example, fieldtrips and dances were sometimes planned for weekends orlater-than-normal evening hours. Staff also noted that Clubsoccasionally opened earlier on days that school closed early,certain holidays and vacations. Specifically during winterand summer vacations, the Clubs modified their scheduledhours dramatically, with most Clubs operating from 9 to asmany as 14 hours a day.
