WELCOME ADDRESSDear Participants, Scientists, Colleagues,On behaft of the Rector Board of The University of Science, Vietnam NationalUniversity - Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCMC) and the Organizing Committee, I have thegreat honor to warmly welcome all of you to the 6 th Scientific Conference of the Universityof Science, VNU-HCMC, to be held on the 14 th November 2008 at our Campus at 227Nguyen Van Cu, district 5, Ho Chi Minh city.Carrying out scientific research is an essential activity of a highly qualified highereducation institution. During a period of more than 60 years of its foundation and growth,scientific research has alsway been having an important role in the education mission of ouruniversity. The efforts of our faculty, students together with their efficient collaborationswith colleagues, scientists of different education and/or research institutions in the countryand abroad have been always making our research activities effervescent, have producedexcellent scientific results and contributed to our established reputation as a center for basicscientific education and research of high level in Vietnam.Every year, The University of Science has been organizing conferences andworkshops in different fields to provide platforms for discussion, exchange of scientificideas and research results between our faculty and scientists, colleagues in repective fields.In addition, in the last decade, The University of Science has started to organize biannualscientific conference which covers all disciplines and fields of education and research at theuniversity. One of the objectives of this university scientific conference is to provide theplatform for authors from our university and from collaborating institutions to present theirresearch results in their interested fields. On the other hand, the conference also aims toprovide opportunity for discussion, exchange of ideas and solutions to study integratedissues, which require the engagement of different scientific fields, areas existing in theuniversity, to stimulate the collaboration and formation of interdisciplinary researchesamong research teams within the university or with orther institutions. The conference isalso to provide opportunity for our students to participate in scientific conference and tostimulate their passion for science and doing science.The Organizing committee has the great pleasure to receive over 400 abstracts andfull papers from 40 different institutions for education, research and technology transfer inVietnam and from abroad relating to many different scientific and technological disciplinessuch as mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, geology,environmental science, materials science, oceanology, information technology,biotechnology, environmental technology, electronics, telecommunications. Through apreliminary evaluation and by suggestion of our scientific sessions, we have selected 388submitted papers to be present at the conference including 4 plenary presentations, 168 oralpresentations at 10 parallel sessions and 216 poster presentations. List of presentations withauthors, institutions is included in this Program book. Abstracts of all presentations areedited into a pdf file, which is attached as a CD. From the conference result, excellent paperswill be selected for peer reviewing to be published as scientific articles in the Journal ofScience and Technology Development of VNU-HCMC following the journal regulation.We do hope the conference will provide all of you new and useful scientific ideas,informations, solutions, as well as to help you to successfully establish new relationshipsand collaborations in education and research.We would like express our sincere gratitude to all authors and their affiliatedinstitutions, particularly to our oversea participants, for their warmly supports and6
