It will include pre-load, after-load, contractility, ratecontrol along with the values of each measurement. Differentiationamong the different types of shock: anaphylactic, cardiogenetic,septic, hypovolemic and neurogenic shock will be presented withcase studies. ECMO will be presented with up-to-date and currentuses, along with policy and procedures of this specialty procedure.There will be a lab component to this lecture that will review thetopics covered in class. This course is approved for four contacthours according to the American Association of Respiratory Care(AARC).CSHH078 Respiratory FailureALI, ARDS, aspiration, atelectasis, drug-induced, and hypoventilationsyndromes, neuromuscular, COPD, pneumonia, pulmonarycontusions will be covered, PE, sleep apnea, and transfusion-relatedlung injury, upper airway obstruction, and chest tubes. Learn thecurrent treatments associated with these diseases. There will be alab component to this lecture that will review the topics covered inclass. This course is approved for four contact hours according to theAmerican Association of Respiratory Care (AARC).CSHH079 Renal SystemLearn the importance of the renal function, Aacid-base balance,a-line insertion, gastrointestinal and coagulation. Emphasis will beplaced on the importance of acid-base balance along with somecase studies to relate the importance of correctly interpreting theresults and how to correct the diagnosed problem as it relates tothe patient. There will be a lab component to this lecture that willreviewthe topics covered in class. This course is approved for fourcontact hours according to the American Association of RespiratoryCare (AARC).CSHH080 Lab Results and Nutritional StatusGain an in-depth analysis on the complex yet much needed: CBC,cardiac markers, coagulation studies, culture and sensitivities,sputum gram stain, hemoximetry, BUN, creatine, fluid analysis,complications of malnutrition, complications of feedings, morbidobesity, metabolic studies and PFT. Case studies will highlight theproblems of evaluating the results and how to correct the issues thatrelate to the patient. There will be a lab component to this lecturethat will review the topics covered in class. This course is approvedfor four contact hours according to the American Association ofRespiratory Care (AARC).CSHH081 Update on VAPLearn the current practice associated with preventing patients fromobtaining VAP (ventilator-associated pneumonia). The course willdiscuss the following issues related to VAP: oral care, bed positioning,minimizing intubation, ventilator circuit care, recognition ofclinical and laboratory signs consistent with infection and sepsis,management of patients with infection and sepsis, preventivemeasurements, and MiniBal. There will be a lab component tothis lecture that will review the topics covered in class. This courseis approved for four contact hours according to the AmericanAssociation of Respiratory Care (AARC).CSHH082 End of Life CareAn advanced focus on end of life and preparation for disasters willbe discussed. Learn the differentiation of the potential need for endof-lifecare with either palliative or hospice care. The determinationof brain death and the discussion for the withdrawal of life supportwill be analyzed with case studies. Triage procedures and theequipment and supplies needed for a disaster will be presented.Finally, a discussion on the importance of pulmonary rehabilitationwill conclude the series of lectures on critical care. This course is approved for four contact hours according to theAmerican Association of Respiratory Care (AARC).CSHH107 MRI Registry ReviewYou can prepare for the advanced level MRI examination throughthis specially designed course.
