The Burning Bush 16/1 (January 2010)endless ages of eternity. How do I know? Because God’s Word says so, andI want nothing more. 4It would be the height of folly to surrender the Received Text thatchanged nations, sparked a Reformation, and three Great Awakenings forthe evolving manuscript based on the subjective views of apostate textualcritics. The truth is that Miss Pragmatism is a seductive mistress for thoseseeking the approval of the Neo-Evangelical scholarship butunfortunately she produces some very ugly offsprings. We see theAthaliah’s of the Jehoshaphat compromise with apostate textual criticismnow flooding the collapsing dyke of modern Fundamentalism as seen ininstitutions such as Bob Jones University (BJU), Central BaptistTheological Seminary (CBTS) and DBTS. Speaking of this decline ofFundamentalism, the Rev Ivan Foster of the Free Presbyterian Church ofUlster in a message delivered on October 11, 2009 states,The first evidence of change was Fundamentalism’s turning against theAuthorised Version of Holy Scriptures. That might sound naïve to the learned; it willcertainly sound very unscholarly. I don’t really care. I am prepared to takethe risk of being wrong by relying on the book that God has changednations with rather than launch out in that frail vessel of scholarship thatthose who today have gained some standing within Fundamentalism wouldhave us all embark in. I reject the NKJV and I reject every other version asflawed in comparison to the purity of the Authorised Version. I just cannotsee the reason for changing. 5It is not that we do not understand McCune’s arguments for changefrom the historical Reformed position on preservation, we do, but we52
