Calvin himself was greatly persecuted for preaching andwriting in defence of the faith, and exposing error. But despite thedangers he faced, he often encouraged himself and his hearers by quotingRomans 8:31, “If God be for us, who can be against us?”Let us therefore make sure we are first of all for God, and if we arefor Him in accordance and obedience to His forever infallible andinerrant Words, then we can be sure He is also for us and will keep us inthese perilous days.
