How does <strong>the</strong> Company turn this crisis into opportunity if such crisis happensagain in <strong>the</strong> coming years?A.1.3) Mr.Panus Thiravanitkul, <strong>the</strong> President, clarified that <strong>the</strong>Company has been operating for 67 years. Because <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> severe flood, <strong>20</strong>11 is <strong>the</strong> veryfirst year that <strong>the</strong> Company suffered a loss from underwriting. If <strong>the</strong> shareholderslooked at <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> written premium, you will find that <strong>the</strong> Company hascontinuous growth in written premium and always meets <strong>the</strong> set target. Therefore, <strong>the</strong>main factor to generate underwriting pr<strong>of</strong>it is effective risk management and also need toparticipate in <strong>the</strong> Government National Disaster Fund. In addition, <strong>the</strong> Company needsto provide knowledge and understanding to customers and public in order to have <strong>the</strong>irparticipation in <strong>the</strong> risk management and loss prevention by having at least 2 seminars ayear on that subject.The Company treated this crisis as an opportunity for our business--that is<strong>the</strong> Company assists victims and fully aware <strong>the</strong> importance <strong>of</strong> service and fastsettlement <strong>of</strong> claims in accordance with <strong>the</strong> Company’s slogan “Your Caring Partner”.The Company still provides flood cover but subject to a limited amount <strong>of</strong> loss. As anexample, our industrial all risk (IAR) policy before this flood crises provide full floodcover same amount as <strong>the</strong> sum insured but after <strong>the</strong> crises <strong>the</strong> limit <strong>of</strong> liability from floodhas been limited to only up to 30% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sum insured but not exceeding 50 million baht.The Company has also provided coverage for earthquake and wind storm whichoccurrence are more frequent now.Q.2.) Mr. Supoj Euchailertkul, a shareholder who attended <strong>the</strong> meeting,asked what is <strong>the</strong> effect <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> reduction <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>it tax from 30% to 23%? He alsoproposed <strong>the</strong> Company to consider paying dividend from <strong>the</strong> retained earning so thatshareholders can enjoy a higher tax credit rate. He also stated that shareholders wouldbe pleased to support <strong>the</strong> policy <strong>of</strong> increasing <strong>the</strong> Company’s registered capital byissuing stock dividend.A.2) Mr.Panus Thiravanitkul, <strong>the</strong> President, clarified that because <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>lower corporate income tax rate, <strong>the</strong> Company has lower tax charge. The President statedthat <strong>the</strong> Company will take into consideration <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r points raised and <strong>the</strong>n conveyedhis thanks to <strong>the</strong> shareholders for such comment.Q.3.) Mrs. Walaiwan Srifuengfung, a shareholder who attended <strong>the</strong>meeting, asked why <strong>the</strong> Company’s income tax for year <strong>20</strong>10 and <strong>20</strong>11 was inconsistent.The Company’s pr<strong>of</strong>it in <strong>the</strong> year <strong>20</strong>10 was 1,666.6 million baht and paid an income tax<strong>of</strong> 434.4 million baht whereas <strong>the</strong> Company’s pr<strong>of</strong>it in <strong>the</strong> year <strong>20</strong>11 was only 442.6million baht but paid an income tax <strong>of</strong> 390.6 million baht.Page 15
