owned and operated by Margot McKinnon.<br />

The premise behind Body Harmonics is to<br />

make Pilates accessible to everyone. All studio<br />

teachers are fully certifed and offer expert<br />

training in functional movement and stability,<br />

postural correction, and injury rehabilitation.<br />

he Canadian Aquafitness Leaders Alliance<br />

TInc. is more than an organization that provides<br />

indepth, high quality training and certification<br />

in group aquafitness. We also offer education<br />

and certification in a variety of specialties<br />

including: CALA Centre of Power; Aqua<br />

Kick Box; CALA Water Running and Aqua<br />

Jogging; CALA Aqua for Older Adults; CALA<br />

Aqua Natal and our newest launch: CALA<br />

Healing Waters Program: Aquatic Post Rehab<br />

Prep Course and Aqua Arthritis. There are eight<br />

other post rehab modules that will be launched<br />

in the upcoming years.<br />

Mission Statement: CALA training and certification<br />

exceeds the national standards and is<br />

recognized as the gold standard in aquafitness,<br />

vertical water training and aquatic post rehabili-<br />

tation in <strong>Canada</strong> and abroad. At CALA, we promote<br />

professionalism and excellence amongst<br />

our leaders and training team through careful<br />

integration of the mind, body and spirit. Our<br />

mandate is to advance the level of expertise and<br />

create a unified body of aquafitness leaders,<br />

water running coaches, aqua natal and aqua<br />

arthritis instructors and aquatic rehabilitation<br />

specialists.<br />

In the line of conferences and educational<br />

opportunities, CALA went all out in 2004: here is<br />

what happened: CALA actively participated in<br />

the Montreal Can-<strong>Fit</strong>-Pro Conference, hosted<br />

the 12th annual national Exclusively Water<br />

Conference in Toronto in June, actively participated<br />

in the Toronto Can-<strong>Fit</strong>-Pro Conference in<br />

August, hosted the 2nd regional (Alberta based)<br />

Exclusively Water Conference in Canmore in<br />

September and hosted the 1st regional (Eastern<br />

Ontario based) Exclusively Water Conference in<br />

Ottawa, in October.<br />

Healing Waters:<br />

• In the area of new intitiatives, CALA launched<br />

the following new courses:<br />

Healing Waters: Aquatic Post Rehabilitation<br />

Program. Within this program are more than<br />

ten specialty modules under development.<br />

With the support and encouragement of Liz<br />

Teskey and the City of Guelph, CALA launched<br />

two specialty modules including: Aquatic Post-<br />

Rehabilitation Prep Course and Aqua Arthritis<br />

Course (re-launch).<br />

The PEI based Arthritis Society has deemed<br />

the CALA, with our Healing Waters Program as<br />

THE training and certification body for Arthritis<br />

on the Island.<br />
