groschen orange-vermilion and defective 2gr. blue (contemporarily damaged on<br />
application to the cover), Small Shield, used on first day of issue and tied by<br />
circular Saxony “LOSSNITZ” datestamp, clearly dated “1/1”, with repeated strike<br />
in centre. Despite the fault, a great rarity, especially so on an Insured<br />
cover. Certificate Sommer (1999).<br />

52 FIRST DAY COVER. 1872: Cover to Stettin franked by fine single 1 groschen red, F 4 500 - 6 500<br />
Small Shield, used on first day of issue and tied by framed “STOLP IN POMMERN”<br />
datestamp, clearly dated “1-1-72”, with repeated strike at left. Reverse with<br />
arrival cds. Minor blunted perfs. but a very fine and rare cover.<br />
