66 HINDENBURG CRASH COVER. 1937 (May 10): Olympic 15+10pf. illustrated postal B F 10 000 - 12 000<br />
stationery card up-rated with Olympic adhesives (2), mailed originally on the<br />
ill-fated Hindenburg Airship which burned at Lakehurst, New Jersey; this card<br />
being prepared for sending on the return journey and saved due to being stored<br />
on board in a metal container. After the crash the card was returned via the<br />
Foreign Branch of the New York P.O. and the adhesives cancelled by “New York /<br />
Paquebot” duplex (May 10) and returned to sender in Gorlitz by Ship. According<br />
to USPO records this is one of four cards to be delivered to Mr. Laitenberger.<br />
