Two-rowed, a cross of TR253/H96034//CDC<br />

Kendall, registered in 2008, and was developed<br />

by the Crop Development Centre, University of<br />

Saskatchewan and Sapporo Breweries.<br />

AGRONOMIC <strong>TRAITS</strong><br />

• Higher yield than AC Metcalfe<br />

• Lower grain protein<br />

• Fair to good resistance to lodging<br />

• Exhibits slight dormancy and tolerance to<br />

pre-harvest sprouting<br />

• Fair to good tolerance to drought<br />

• Susceptible to true loose smut, stem rust,<br />

septoria speckled leaf blotch, scald, Fusarium<br />

head blight, covered smut , false loose smut,<br />

black semi-loose smut, spot blotch and net<br />

blotch , moderately susceptible to common<br />

root rot<br />

<strong>MALTING</strong> <strong>QUALITY</strong> <strong>TRAITS</strong><br />

• Good malt quality<br />

• Good extract<br />

• High DP and adequate alpha-amylase<br />

• Moderate soluble protein<br />

• Lower wort Beta-glucan<br />

BREWING <strong>QUALITY</strong> <strong>TRAITS</strong><br />

• Good overall brewhouse performance<br />

• Good extract<br />

• Lower soluble protein<br />

• Lautering time similar to AC Metcalfe<br />

• Good Fermentability<br />

OVERALL COMMENTS<br />

CDC Reserve has slight dormancy which allows it<br />

pre-harvest sprout tolerance. Quality is similar to<br />

AC Metcalfe, however it has significantly higher yield.<br />
