Iam confident that these measureswill have the same impact onthe lorry and bus industries.”The introduction of gr<strong>ad</strong>uated fixedpenalties is part of a major driveto change the behaviour of noncompliantdrivers and operators.For example, any fixed penaltyapplied will be taken into accountwhen the DVA is consideringwhether to suspend or revoke anoperator’s licence where thereis a record of offences on issuessuch as ro<strong>ad</strong>worthiness, speeding,overlo<strong>ad</strong>ing or drivers’ hours.Tachographs Spre<strong>ad</strong>.<strong>indd</strong> 80 20/03/2012 09:45
