From the Board of Directors...On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am very happy to share with you the 2011-2012Annual Report.This was another productive and inspiring year for both the Board of Directors and UNISHanoi. We are extremely proud to have begun our Advancement Programme, which hasmade it possible to create a Scholarship Programme, welcoming the first scholarship studentin August 2012. Additionally, the Board approved the School’s first Vision Statement andcompleted our building project, which is providing superior Arts and Sports opportunitiesfor our students.The Board is entrusted with fulfilling the Mission of the school and providing for the long termfuture of UNIS Hanoi. We strengthened the Board’s governance and strategic managementstructures with the approval of a new School Policy Document and Strategic ManagementPlan Measurement Framework. 2011-12 was year two of our Strategic Management Plan,a five year plan which guides our continuous and consistent striving for excellence in allaspects of our school.You will see the same striving for excellence reflected in the following pages of this report.The Board would like to take this opportunity to applaud the commitment of the Head ofSchool, administrators, faculty and staff of UNIS Hanoi and thank them for making our schoola place where students want to learn, to explore and to serve others. The Board is the policy-makingbody of the school, responsible for governance of theSchool and the appointment of the Head of School. TheBoard is composed of ten Board members, of whom threeare appointed by the United Nations Resident Coordinator,two are elected by parents, and four are appointed by theBoard. The Head of School serves as an ex-officio (nonvoting)member. Aside from the Head of School, all Boardmembers in 2011-12 were volunteers and parents of UNISHanoi students or alumni.
