In this way violence acts aspropaganda and this has an influence on a choice of a target (symbolic meaning).Dynamic of events in a terrorist group is one of key psycho-social factors ofterrorism. For some terrorists the feeling of affiliation to a group can be moreimportant than political goals of the organization, which can be nationalistic,religious, left-wing, right-wing, anarchistic (Woolf, 2006). Some authors alsouse the term national terrorism.Undoubtedly we percept terrorism in totally new dimensions after 11 September2001, however most efforts are oriented towards a preventive disclosure ofpotential perpetrators and towards a curative prevention of consequences and nottowards eliminating causes, including religious separatisms and fundamentalism,a gap between western and eastern civilizations, territorial threats, povertydiseases, oil, weapon etc. (Pavliha and Simoniti, 2006). Materialistic and atheistsystems of values of more or less democratic societies are confronted withdissimilar systems of norms of different religious and cultural backgroundswithout actually trying to achieve mutual understanding and respect. Terrorismas a global phenomenon creates an empty space for new comprehension of theworld and it tries to substitute old contents with the new ones, which is shownin different forms of terrorizing and attempts of ideological, quasi-religiousfanaticism and messianism to fulfill the space left empty by intimidation. Suchconceptualism is related not only to international and national terrorism, but alsoincludes understanding of war - its goal is nothing else but to conquer will andaction of the defeated party by outmost means of violence. The only differenceis that both tasks of terrorism are directly joined and interlaced (BuËar, 2006).Increasing number of terrorist organizations is a consequence of politicalsituations and also of technology advancement. Ideological terrorism givesway before ethnically and religiously motivated forms which reach ludism.Messages on antiglobalism are formed as breaking in computer systems,creating computer viruses, in attempts to block financial transactions and banksystems (BeliË, 2001), destruction of databases and constant facing with thepolice and testing its legal power and physical condition (AnžiË, 2001).180
