Honing is still used today throughoutthe metallurgical industry. Honing is primarily carried out in cylindrical holes, particularly in series and one-off production where high specifications are set fordimensions, geometry and surface quality. Honing tools can be used on virtually any material.In addition to dimensional accuracy, geometric precision and surface quality must be considered as critical for close tolerance holes. Manual honing tools onlathes and drilling machines can be used for small quantities.
