PASS ProgramPostive Alternative to Suspension from SchoolThe PASS program has been of service to thecommunity now for 13 years. This is an alternativeto home suspensions for the youth in our schools.The PASS program is available for youth fromgrades 4 to 12. The program is activated by theprincipal making the recommendation that asuspended youth attend PASS, with the approvalof a parent or guardian.The objective of PASS is to provide an environmentwhere students who are suspended are able tocontinue with their schoolwork, and learn skillsto help prevent a reoccurrence of the samesuspension. Students learn life skills that will assistthem with education, and decision making.These life skills are presented through discussion,video, and activities.Students have accessto up to date resources,and will receive one onone attention as well asopportunities to work ingroups.This year we have hadan increase in referrals,and have continuedto strengthen ourrelationships with theschools in our community.140youth servedin our PASSProgramIN-SCHOOL DETENTIONFor the past eight years, the St. ClairCatholic District School Boardhas contracted with <strong>Rebound</strong> toprovide staff at each high school inLambton County and Kent County tocoordinate an on-site PASS Programfor youth who would normally besuspended for1 or 2 days from school. In thisprogram, the students are referred4108youth servedin grades 9through 12through school administration andinstead of being sent home, theyparticipate in the on-site detentionprogram held in a classroom withinthe school.
