Pedigree - Originated from a 30-ha seedincrease field of western wheatgrass of unknown origin grown in theMissouri River bottoms near Mandan. Rhizomatous and forms denseblue-green sward. Leaves less heavily veined and thinner than otherwestern wheatgrass cvs. Average yield of 200 kg/ha more forage thanother western wheatgrass cvs. Similar to Rosana in area of adaptationbut more productive than Rosana on coarse- textured soils. Seed hasshort awn that distracts from seed quality but is similar to Rosana inseed yield.
