Minutes from the Executive Board MeetingJanuary <strong>24</strong>-<strong>25</strong>, <strong>2007</strong>30COMMITTEE REPORTSNotice of Motion – Greening <strong>OPSEU</strong>Moved by Rout/FrancheWHEREAS the Executive Board directed that the Board staff retreat focuson some key areas; andWHEREAS the strategic planning committee has analyzed the informationfrom the workshops and determined that change needs to occur.THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Executive Board approve thefollowing priorities and recommendations:1. <strong>OPSEU</strong> make “Greening” a priority by endorsing the action planscontained in the Options Paper and the “Green Team’s” June 2006recommendations.2. The LBED transition committee be charged with the continuation ofmerging LBED into the <strong>OPSEU</strong> organization while remaining vigilantfor operational efficiencies that may not be hampered by the mergeragreement.3. Once the vision and mission statements are established the ExecutiveBoard reassess the functions and priorities of the organizingdepartment.4. <strong>OPSEU</strong> as an employer should continue to invest in its employees andits members through a comprehensive training and development planand succession planning.5. <strong>OPSEU</strong> should be seen as a union that considers equity an essentialcomponent of who we are as a union by determining the appropriatestructures or restructuring that must occur to meet this goal.6. <strong>OPSEU</strong> will continue to be a financially sound, responsible, andaccountable organization through the ongoing evaluation of existingoperational expenditures by utilizing the vision and mission statementsand the priorities of the organization to determine the budget not thebudget determining the priorities.
