The datacollected from sensors is availablefor analysis at Coast Guard districtheadquarters, regional operatingcenters and control center fordecision support.BEL is also establishing a NationalCommand Control Communicationand Intelligence (NC3I) Network acrossIndia. The aim of establishing the NC3Inetwork is to build comprehensivemaritime awareness throughactive surveillance, real-time threatevaluation with timely and resourcesmart operational responses.BEL has also associated with anumber of private companiesfor several of its projects. Canyou share some details with us?With the change in customerrequirements from standaloneproducts to systems andsystem of systems, BEL has beenpartnering with many Indianprivate companies who possesscomplementary capabilities toaddress the market. For example,BEL is partnering with L&T forCentral Acquisition Radar (CAR)mobile mast for antennas andwith Astra Microwave for RFand microwave subsystems forits Central Acquisition Radarprogramme of defence forces.Similarly, BEL is partnering withTata Power and L&T for the supplyof launchers for its Akash Missileprogramme.All future major foreignprocurement contracts willhave offset opportunities instrategic defence electronics.How are you preparingto accept these offsetopportunities?BEL is focussing on opportunities inareas of offset obligations of vendorsin various RFPs of Ministry of Defence(MoD). BEL has also identifiedcontract manufacturing (both buildto print and build to specs) as one ofthe areas to address the emergingopportunities with OEMs.We are working closely withvarious major foreign aerospaceand defence companies to securebusiness under the mandatoryoffset clause in the RFPs for IndianDefence Procurement. MoUs havebeen signed with many OEMsand efforts are being made toestablish long-term supply chainrelationships with the globalplayers.BEL’s facilities have been visited bythese companies and basedon the feedback generated,necessary actions have beentaken. Seven of our SBUs/Units have obtained AS9100 Certification to addressaerospace business. Infrastructuremodernisation and requisiteadditions have taken place tomeet the requirements of thesecompanies.
