Study groups are one wayin which we do this. Students in the same class form study groups to study together and makesure th<strong>at</strong> everyone excels on their exams and improves their performance in class.-Upperclassmen are <strong>of</strong>ten used as resources to the underclassmen. If they have taken a classalready, they are always more than happy to help you study or even gives you tips on how tosucceed in th<strong>at</strong> particular class. Upperclassmen also give gre<strong>at</strong> advice on wh<strong>at</strong> classes to take.-Pi Phi always gives incentive to get your grades up to improve not just for yourself, but for yoursisters and for F/S life in general.-When a sister is struggling in a class, Pi Phi provides tutors th<strong>at</strong> can help you improve yourgrades and do well on an exam th<strong>at</strong> you are having trouble preparing for.- Every week we recognize women who did well academically during the week.Page | 4

Ourpurpose st<strong>at</strong>es the importance <strong>of</strong> cherishing and perfecting friendships. Every semester, ourchapter devotes time for their fellow sisters by particip<strong>at</strong>ing in sisterhood events where the ideals<strong>of</strong> sisterhood can grow. Being in a sorority <strong>of</strong>fers a strong support system for its members, bothin their activities and in their everyday lives. <strong>The</strong> friendships cultiv<strong>at</strong>ed in Alpha Gamma Deltaare ones th<strong>at</strong> will last a lifetime.Alpha Phi (ΑΦ)Alpha Phi‟s extend the value <strong>of</strong> sisterhood beyond planned events. Alpha Phi‟s truly enjoy justbeing around one another. Th<strong>at</strong> being said, we also have multiple events and traditions th<strong>at</strong> keepour sisterhood alive. Some examples <strong>of</strong> bonding events include movie nights (last time wew<strong>at</strong>ched Bridesmaids!); pumpkin picking; and weekly "sunshine," which is a way to extend yourappreci<strong>at</strong>ion for one another; and study break snacks together. We host alumnae brunches,parents' brunches, and scholarship teas. <strong>The</strong>se brunches and teas are a way for Alpha Phi‟s tointeract with important people in each other‟s lives. As st<strong>at</strong>ed, Alpha Phi‟s can promotesisterhood in so many organized ways, but wh<strong>at</strong> it comes down to is the genuine feeling <strong>of</strong>sisterhood th<strong>at</strong> is spread throughout this chapter.Delta Delta Delta (ΓΓΓ)„to establish a perpetual bond <strong>of</strong> friendship among its members‟<strong>The</strong> opening phrase <strong>of</strong> Delta Delta Delta‟s mission st<strong>at</strong>ement reads th<strong>at</strong> „the purpose <strong>of</strong>Delta Delta Delta shall be to establish a perpetual bond <strong>of</strong> friendship among its members,‟ andthis is reflected in all th<strong>at</strong> we do as a sorority. One <strong>of</strong> the first fr<strong>at</strong>ernities to establish a philanthropy,Alpha Gamma Delta continues its mission to impact the community and the world. AlphaGamma Delta‟s are guided by purpose to particip<strong>at</strong>e in philanthropy events for the AlphaGamma Delta Found<strong>at</strong>ion as well as in our local communities. <strong>The</strong> Alpha Gamma DeltaFound<strong>at</strong>ion supports intern<strong>at</strong>ional diabetes awareness and educ<strong>at</strong>ion. Together, just as in years past, we continue to inspire the woman and impact the world inthe communities in which we liveAlpha Phi (ΑΦ)Service is an integral part <strong>of</strong> our specific chapter, and sorority life as a whole. Our <strong>of</strong>ficialphilanthropic efforts raise money towards the Alpha Phi Found<strong>at</strong>ion, which provides grants andawards to various causes, most notably women's heart health. Alpha Phi‟s raise money for thisfound<strong>at</strong>ion through events like Pictures with Santa, Jail and Bail, and our largest event: King <strong>of</strong>Hearts. Alpha Phi also hosts an annual "Heart Healthy Dinner" each November, where wepresent healthy salads, meals, beverages, and desserts to other members <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lafayette</strong>'s campus,all while providing the campus with important facts and inform<strong>at</strong>ion about women's heart health.This semester, we brought a represent<strong>at</strong>ive from Easton Hospital to educ<strong>at</strong>e the campus aboutwomen's heart health, and how to avoid being <strong>at</strong> risk. In the community, Alpha Phi‟s venturedown the hill to Easton's ASPCA, where the women spend time with the c<strong>at</strong>s and dogs th<strong>at</strong> havebeen abandoned and taken in. On each trip, Alpha Phi‟s take the dogs outside <strong>of</strong> the building onscenic walks, and give the c<strong>at</strong>s nurture and love. Each spring, Alpha Phi‟s bring some dogs oncampus to the quad for the annual Pet-A-Pup day! Alpha Phi‟s are also involved with serviceoutside <strong>of</strong> our chapter, whether th<strong>at</strong> be through the Landis Center, other sorority and fr<strong>at</strong>ernityorganiz<strong>at</strong>ions, other campus clubs, or <strong>at</strong> home. Some examples <strong>of</strong> service events th<strong>at</strong> AlphaPhi‟s take part in are Literacy Day, Marina Day, David Heard Crane Building, Lafapalooza,Relay for <strong>Life</strong>, and more.Delta Delta Delta (ΓΓΓ)„to broaden the moral…life‟Since 1999, Delta Delta Delta has proudly supported St. Jude Research Hospital, which isintern<strong>at</strong>ionally recognized for its research and tre<strong>at</strong>ment <strong>of</strong> children with cancer and otherchronic diseases. At St. Jude, no child is ever denied tre<strong>at</strong>ment on the basis <strong>of</strong> an inability to pay,although it costs $1.7 million dollars a day to run St. Jude. Delta Delta Delta‟s newest mission isto raise $15 million dollars for St. Jude in five years. This goal was set in 2010 and we arecurrently $6 million dollars closer.Delta Gamma (ΓΓ)- <strong>The</strong> Delta Gamma Found<strong>at</strong>iono Protecting the gift <strong>of</strong> sight is one <strong>of</strong> Delta Gamma‟s highest prioritieso Since 1936 Delta Gamma‟s philanthropic purpose has been to stop blindnessbefore it startso <strong>The</strong> founders <strong>of</strong> DG adopted the motto “Do Good”o <strong>The</strong> Golden Anchor Program• “Adopt a Grandparent”Page | 7

RIF's highest priority is to serve the n<strong>at</strong>ion's under-served children andfamilies through the development and delivery <strong>of</strong> literacy programs and campaigns th<strong>at</strong> motiv<strong>at</strong>eyouth to read regularly.Our chapters have also supported the Kappa Kappa Gamma Found<strong>at</strong>ion with financialgifts and Rose McGill magazine subscription sales to help fund scholarships, confidential aid,educ<strong>at</strong>ion and training, and support <strong>of</strong> our two museums.Marina Petersen Celebr<strong>at</strong>ion Day is an annual event held in remembrance for Class <strong>of</strong>2010 student Marina Peterson, who tragically passed away in the summer <strong>of</strong> 2009. Marina was aloyal sister <strong>of</strong> Kappa Kappa Gamma and active in the <strong>Lafayette</strong>/Easton community. This year,the enthusiasm and solidarity on March Field were readily apparent as everyone particip<strong>at</strong>ed inZeta Psi‟s dunk tank, Delta Upsilon‟s backyard games, Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Delta Rho‟skissing booth, and Alpha Phi‟s photo booth, among various other activities. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Four</strong> <strong>Pillars</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sorority</strong> <strong>Life</strong>Leadership, Scholarship, Friendship, Service<strong>Lafayette</strong> <strong>College</strong> 2012and Phi Psi‟s cook out, along with Delta Gamma‟s bake sale, kept <strong>at</strong>tendees happily fed, while alive DJ and a cappella groups kept the crowds entertained and smiling. It was a beautiful day tocelebr<strong>at</strong>e life in Marina‟s favorite way – outdoors with family and friends. <strong>The</strong> event wassuccessful in raising more than $3,080 for an interim abroad scholarship in Marina‟s name,which is open to the entire student body. Marina continues to be a contributing member <strong>of</strong> the<strong>Lafayette</strong> community, who will never be forgotten by her Kappa sisters and friends.Pi Beta Phi (ΠΒΦ)-Pi Beta Phi focuses on implementing “Read. Lead. Achieve” by continuing philanthropic worklocally <strong>at</strong> the Easton Area Community Center by instilling a mentoring rel<strong>at</strong>ionship with thechildren who truly inspire our chapter‟s philanthropy.-We have recently registered the EACC through Pi Phi‟s philanthropy partner First Book, whichthey will tremendously benefit from especially when we particip<strong>at</strong>e in community service or hostfundraisers on campus etc. Sisters volunteer <strong>at</strong> the EACC with the children once a week.-Literacy Day- <strong>The</strong> focus <strong>of</strong> Literacy Day is to promote enthusiasm for reading. Children fromthe Easton community and surrounding areas came to campus to particip<strong>at</strong>e in activities focusingon community.-We host our annual Dance Mar<strong>at</strong>hon, <strong>Lafayette</strong>‟s biggest philanthropy event, in the fall to raisemoney in support <strong>of</strong> literacy. 24 hour event live music, games, prizes and lots <strong>of</strong> dancing –Money raised supports local community centers where we volunteer <strong>at</strong> (Spring Garden children‟scenter etc).-Partnered with DKE last year and had a DKE and Pi Phi luau and food sale – don<strong>at</strong>ionsbenefitted Spring Garden Children‟s Center-H<strong>at</strong>ers Step Back Competition through <strong>Lafayette</strong>‟s Precision Step Team where we will spreadawareness to our campus <strong>of</strong> the importance <strong>of</strong> Pi Beta Phi‟s literacy vision and to compete formoney. If we win, the money will be don<strong>at</strong>ed to a charitable cause <strong>of</strong> our choice- EACCcommunity <strong>of</strong> Easton.Page | 9
