§4.10 SIGNS TITLE 15. ARTICLE 4. SITE DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS3. No temporary sign shall be erected within twenty feet (20') of the curb line of anyadjoining street surface except those located in the BPR District in which case thetemporary sign shall be flush-mounted to the building. No sign shall be erected so asto obstruct the visual clearance needed for safe vehicular and pedestrian traffic.4. If the sign is not communicating a message which is temporary in nature, it shall berequired to meet the requirements of Section §4.10.12 of this Article, PermanentSigns.5. Temporary signs shall be regulated subject to the following:(a)(b)Temporary Commercial SignsTo advertise goods or services for economic gain(1) Temporary signs shall be limited to thirty-two square feet (32ft²).(2) Each individual business will be allowed to display a temporary sign for aperiod not to exceed thirty (30) consecutive days. Each business isallowed a total of sixty (60) calendar days to display temporary signs. Anew permit shall be issued each time the temporary sign is to bedisplayed, unless authorized under the original permit.(3) Maximum Height: Six feet (6'), if freestanding.(4) Commercial signs prohibited: Includes signs that are carried, waived orotherwise displayed by persons either on public rights-of-way or in amanner visible from public rights-of-way. This provision is directedtoward such displays intended to draw attention for a commercialpurpose, and is not intended to limit the display of banners, flags orother signage by persons participating in demonstrations, political rallies,and similar events.(5) Pennants may be displayed for a maximum of ninety (90) days percalendar year with a limit of thirty (30) consecutive days per event.(6) No temporary sign may be illuminated.(7) Banners suspended from a building, with a total square footage of 50ft²are permitted for periods up to thirty (30) consecutive days per event,with no limit on the number of events.Temporary Non-Commercial Signs(1) Temporary signs shall be limited to thirty-two square feet (32ft²).(2) Each individual 501(c) not-for-profit organization will be allowed todisplay a temporary sign for a period not to exceed thirty (30)consecutive days. Each organization is allowed a total of (60) calendardays to display temporary signs. A new permit shall be issued each timethe temporary sign is to be displayed. Removal of Temporary SignsIf a temporary sign relates to an event, such sign shall be removed within five days after theconclusion of the event.§4.10.9. Special Signs PermittedIn addition to the signs permitted in each district as established in §4.10.5 and §4.10.6, thefollowing signs are also permitted subject to the conditions established in this Section. Heights ofsigns permitted in this Section shall not exceed the permitted sign height for the district wherethe sign is to be erected unless otherwise specified by this Section.A. General Provisions for all Special Signs1. No sign may be erected on, suspended over, or encroach upon the public right of way,except as provided for under Title 17, Chapter 1 of this Code, or be located so as toobstruct the visual clearance needed for safe vehicle or pedestrian traffic.2. No sign may be attached to utility poles, trees on private property, trees on publicright of way, street light poles, street or traffic sign nor fire hydrants.3. No sign shall be erected so as to obstruct the visual clearance needed for safevehicular and pedestrian traffic.B. Real Estate SignsReal estate signs advertising property or buildings for sale, rent, or lease are permitted forthe period of time while the property is available for sale, rent or lease and for no morethan fourteen (14) days after the sale, rental, or leasing of said property or building. Thesize and number applies to both freestanding and architectural signs/banners. All realestate signs shall be subject to the following provisions:1. Commercial property located in a commercial zoning district:(a)(b)(c)One sign per lot frontage. If frontage exceeds 300 feet (300’) a second signmay be erected.A maximum of thirty two square feet (32ft²) of sign surface area per side, two(2) sides permitted.The sign, if freestanding, shall not obstruct the visual clearance needed for safevehicular and pedestrian traffic.2. Property located in a residential zoning district:(a)One sign per lot frontage. If frontage exceeds three hundred feet (300’) asecond sign may be erected.(b) Maximum of twelve square feet (12ft²) of sign surface area per side, two (2)sides permitted.(c)The sign, if freestanding, shall not obstruct the visual clearance needed for safevehicular and pedestrian traffic.C.
