Transport of <strong>Urine</strong> Specimens• <strong>Urine</strong> specimens should be processed within2 hours after collection to achieve accuratecolony count.• No preservative is as satisfactory as the freshspecimen of the urine.
• If delay in delivery is inevitable, the followingpreservatives can be used according to therequirements of the tests:1. Refrigeration at 4°C for as long as 24 hr.2. Urinary preservative tablets3. Acidification (pH 3.0)4. Boric Acid 1.8%5. Sodium carbonate6.Chloroform
