(2) Examine the specimenmicroscopically:**Wet preparation of fresh uncentrifugedurine:• Examine using the 10x & 40x objectives.• The following may be found in urine: Pus cells, red cells,yeast cells, epithelial cells, crystals, casts, bacteria,parasites ….. etc.
1-Pus cells (Pyuria):• Round cells that contain granules & often found inclumps.• Normal : few WBCs (< 5/ HPF).• One group > 5 WBCs/ HPF, whereas other authorshave reported that > 10 WBCs/ HPF was a morereliable for the diagnosis of UTI.
