5 th Annual Outreach for Engineers<br />

Overview<br />

The ASME Ocean, Offshore <strong>and</strong> Arctic Engineering Division<br />

(OOAE) of the International Petroleum Technology Institute (IPTI)<br />

is hosting a specialty forum at OMAE 2011. The specialty forum is<br />

designed for students who may not be familiar with the industry as<br />

well as those who have already specialized in this area.<br />

This is the fifth year of the Outreach for Engineers Forum.<br />

Highlights of the Forum will include presentations of the various<br />

technologies required (e.g. from geosciences to mechanical/structural<br />

engineering <strong>and</strong> project management), types of job opportunities <strong>and</strong><br />

possible career paths, as well as site tours.<br />

In addition, Outreach for Engineers Specialty Forum attendees<br />

will be provided with the opportunity to participate at the 30 th<br />

International Conference on Ocean, Offshore <strong>and</strong> Arctic Engineering<br />

as Full Conference attendees.<br />

Attendee Profile<br />

• Senior Undergraduate Students enrolled in Engineering or<br />

Science Curricula<br />

• Graduate Students (both Masters <strong>and</strong> Doctoral levels) with<br />

specialization in fields such as ocean <strong>and</strong>/or offshore engineering,<br />

civil engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum<br />

engineering, <strong>and</strong> aerospace engineering<br />

If you are a paid OMAE 2011 attendee <strong>and</strong> wish to attend the<br />

Outreach Forum, you may at no additional cost. However, you must<br />

be a qualified student.<br />

Scholarships<br />

Through funding provided by the OOAE Division of ASME, the<br />

Forum organizers provide scholarships to cover registration costs of<br />

some attendees. The scholarships are open to students from around<br />

the world each year.<br />
