Part B - Health Facility Briefing and Planning90 .37.30Disposal RoomCONSIDERATIONSThe Disposal Room shall be lockable.The room may be shared by two or more Units.In some Units, space may be required for cytotoxic waste bins.For additional room considerations and details refer to Room Data Sheets andRoom Layout Sheets.90 .38.10EnsuiteDESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONAn Ensuite is for a patient to wash, shave, groom themselves, shower and usethe toilet, either independently or with assistance. The area and layout mustac<strong>com</strong>modate an assisting nurse, patient lifter and wheelchair access.A nu<strong>mb</strong>er of alternatives have been provided in Room Layout Sheets showingdifferent configurations that may suit different patient types. The actual choiceshould depend on the patient type and the Operational Policy.An Ensuite - Standard shall be a minimum of five m2; an Ensuite - Sharedshall be a minimum of six m2 and an Ensuite - Special shall be a minimum ofseven m2.90 .38.20LOCATION AND RELATIONSHIPSThe Ensuite must be adjacent to the Bed Room entry door or directlyaccessible from each Bed Room. Individual shower and toilet <strong>com</strong>partmentsmay be used for patients in shared bedrooms; refer to Shower - Patient andToilet - Patient.90 .38.30CONSIDERATIONSDoors must open outwards and be fitted with emergency release function.Fittings including grab rails and shower must <strong>com</strong>ply with AS 1428.For additional room considerations and details refer to Room Data Sheets andRoom Layout Sheets.90 .39.10Ensuite - Mental HealthDESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONThe Ensuite - Mental Health will provide a shower, toilet and handbasin foruse by mental health patients.
