He serves on five editorial boards <strong>of</strong> international journals. He also serves the IEEE <strong>Computer</strong> Society on Technical<br />

Achievement award and Fellow committees. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Bhargava is the founder <strong>of</strong> the IEEE Symposium on Reliable and<br />

Distributed Systems, IEEE conference on Digital Library, and the ACM Conference on <strong>Information</strong> and Knowledge<br />

Management.<br />

His research group consists <strong>of</strong> nine PhD and four postdoctoral students. He has several NSF funded projects. In addition,<br />

DARPA, IBM, Motorola, and CISCO are providing contracts and gift funds.<br />

Bio-sketch:<br />

William S. Cleveland is a pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Statistics and courtesy pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> <strong>Computer</strong> Science at Purdue University.<br />

Previously he was a distinguished member <strong>of</strong> Technical Staff in the Statistics Research <strong>Department</strong> at Bell Labs,<br />

Murray Hill; for 12 <strong>of</strong> his years at Bell Labs, he was a <strong>Department</strong> Head.<br />

His areas <strong>of</strong> research have included data visualization, computer networking, machine learning, data mining, time<br />

series, statistical modeling, visual perception, environmental science, and seasonal adjustment.<br />
