Bio-sketch:<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Hambrusch’s research interests are in the area <strong>of</strong> parallel and distributed computation, data management<br />
and data dissemination in wireless environments, and analysis <strong>of</strong> algorithms. Her research contributions include<br />
communication and data dissemination routines for distributed applications, data management techniques for query<br />
processing in wireless, mobile environments, and parallel algorithms for image processing and graph problems.<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Hambrusch’s research has been supported by NSF, ONR, DARPA, DoE, and Micros<strong>of</strong>t Corp.<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Hambrusch is a member <strong>of</strong> the editorial board for Parallel Computing and <strong>Information</strong> Processing Letters,<br />
and she also serves on the IEEE Technical Committee on Parallel Processing. Her recognitions include inaugural membership<br />
in the Purdue University Book <strong>of</strong> Great Teachers, a <strong>2003</strong> Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award from<br />
Pennsylvania State University, and <strong>2004</strong> TechPoint Mira Education Award Winner. She serves as the head <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Computer</strong> Science (since July 2002).<br />

Bio-sketch:<br />
Before joining the Purdue faculty, Pr<strong>of</strong>essor H<strong>of</strong>fmann taught at the University <strong>of</strong> Waterloo, Canada. He has also been<br />
a visiting pr<strong>of</strong>essor at the Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel, West Germany (1980), and at Cornell University<br />
(1984-1986). His research focuses on geometric and solid modeling, its applications to manufacturing and science,<br />
and the simulation <strong>of</strong> physical systems. The research includes, in particular, research on geometric constraint solving<br />
