For the record, when I tested thisparticular piece it did somewhat betterwith the device than without it. Andclearly this pistol was a horrible example.At the other end of the scale, I tried it in, myoid Gold Cup_ Some years ago thispistol was worked over by some Air Forcearmorers at Camp Perry, and I. knew itwould shoot all day into three inches at 50yards. Installed in this piece, the Perfectorshowed no improvement in accuracy. Understandably,it couldn't because thebreech and slide/frame fit were tightinitially. Recoil control was notablysmoother, however.An out-of-the-box Gold Cup showedabout a three-quarter-inch reduction atthe same distance, as did a new, but wellbroken-inSeries 70 Government Model.So, we come to the bottom line. At thesuggested retail price of around $50, thePerfector is expensive. But it is exceptionallywell made and machined fromstainless steel bar stock. First class alwayscarries a price tag, and this is a qualityitem. The system works well. Between th~ ,buffer and the fact that the assembly isbutted against the barrel lug instead of thenormal recoil spring guide seat shouldnegate any chance for cracking the frameor slide, and for end-peening of the seat.This should justify the unit's cost to manyusers who shoot a great number of heavyloads and/or have aluminum framepistols. The breech lock-up feature willhelp some guns more than others, dependingon how sloppy they are in the firstplace. I haven't tried it yet, but I suspectthat substituting a government matchgrade "s" link with an oversized lower Ihole might be beneficial in some cases.Fixed sight users who employ the Perfectorshould expect a slightly lower point ofimpact, requiring a little file work to re- ,zero.The only thing I didn't like about thePerfector system is that when it's installedyou can't "pinch cycle" the slide back withthe thumb and forefinger to load onehanded.This mayor may not be of consequence,depending on how you use yourgun. In any event, the condition is commonto all full-length guides, regardless ofmake, and there are other ways to onehandload the pistol.
