Starting in militaryaviation <strong>and</strong> then engineering consultancy,he joined NATS to work on the SwanwickNew En-route Centre project in 2001.At NATS he has provided Human Factorsassurance at numerous control centres<strong>and</strong> airfields, <strong>and</strong> is currently working onprojects in Eastern Europe, the MiddleEast <strong>and</strong> throughout the UK.He is responsible for coordinating HumanFactors expertise to all airports whereNATS provides an air traffic service.These include most of the UK’smajor airports, such as Heathrow,Gatwick, Manchester <strong>and</strong> Glasgow.Dr John McCaulChief Medical Officer ofRWE npowerAfter a few years in hospital medicine,he moved to a training post in occupationalmedicine at Ford Motor Company in thedays when Dagenham alone employed22,000 people <strong>and</strong> made completecars – in his time the Fiesta, Cortina <strong>and</strong>Sierra. After completing his training, hestayed with Ford for 9 years <strong>and</strong> duringthis time he was also the Secretary of theSociety of Occupational Medicine. He thenmoved to the electricity sector to join thenewly formed National Power Company.Within three years he was their ChiefMedical Officer heading up theoccupational health service <strong>and</strong>, in effect,he has remained there although his CVwould say he was then CMO of Innogy,RWE Innogy <strong>and</strong> finally RWE npower!John’s main interests in occupationalmedicine are the collection of data (on bothprocess <strong>and</strong> outcome) which he believesis the secret to justifiying the practice ofoccupational health), the health risks ofburning biomass, EMF <strong>and</strong> mental health.Peter McCormickPowering ImprovementCoordinator, <strong>Energy</strong><strong>Networks</strong> AssociationPeter is an Electricity Supply Industrytrained engineer with over 30 yearsexperience in the operation, construction<strong>and</strong> maintenance of electricity distributionnetworks.
