FEES AND CONTRIBUTIONSThe General Service Fee provides a significant amount of the school income which enables us <strong>to</strong> provideequipment <strong>and</strong> res<strong>our</strong>ces as well as enhance <strong>our</strong> educational <strong>and</strong> sporting programs. The Government hasdeemed this fee as voluntary <strong>and</strong> its payment is therefore a parental decision. The Government <strong>and</strong>/or theDepartment of Education & Communities does not provide additional finances when parents choose not <strong>to</strong>contribute. It is left up <strong>to</strong> the P & C Association Inc. <strong>to</strong> try <strong>to</strong> make up the shortfall. Parents are asked <strong>to</strong>consider seriously the long term benefits <strong>to</strong> the education of their child <strong>and</strong> the community when making thedecision <strong>to</strong> contribute or not <strong>to</strong> contribute <strong>to</strong>wards the General Service Fee.Elective Fees are required for the provision of c<strong>our</strong>se material. Consequently, 50% of Elective Fees mustbe paid within 28 days of issue of the invoice. Failure <strong>to</strong> do so may mean that the student will berequired <strong>to</strong> select an alternative c<strong>our</strong>se. Please Note: Outst<strong>and</strong>ing Elective Fees, including those owingfrom previous years, will render <strong>students</strong> ineligible <strong>to</strong> participate in excursions. Following the fullpayment of elective fees, <strong>students</strong> may then pay the excursion costs <strong>and</strong> be included in the activity.<strong>School</strong> fees <strong>and</strong> contributions can be paid at the <strong>School</strong> Administration Office by cash, cheque or EFTPOS.Fees <strong>and</strong> contributions may be paid in full or by pre-arranged instalments.Please DO NOT PAY for fees until invoiced. You will receive a Fees Invoice early this term, Term 1.Please Note: Parents who have difficulty paying school elective contributions are asked <strong>to</strong> contactthe <strong>School</strong> Administration Office.FLOODING PROCEDURESWhen the decision is made <strong>to</strong> send children home due <strong>to</strong> the threat of local flooding thefollowing procedures will be followed: decision <strong>to</strong> send children home will be made as early as possible afterdiscussion with the bus company; the school will call the homes of all primary <strong>students</strong> <strong>to</strong> ensure someoneis at home (unless that student has a secondary brother or sister <strong>to</strong> look after them); where contact cannot be made with the parent/carer of a primarystudent, he/she WILL NOT be sent home on the bus, but supervised at school untilappropriate arrangements can be made for his/her care.All parents are enc<strong>our</strong>aged <strong>to</strong> contact the school if there is a threat of flooding <strong>to</strong> instruct the<strong>School</strong> Administration Office staff regarding arrangements for their children.GATS – GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTSThe school offers many opportunities for children talented in special areas <strong>to</strong> participate in local, state <strong>and</strong>national competitions. The school implements such programs as Public Speaking, Debating, T<strong>our</strong>nament ofMinds, Newspaper Group, Writing, Maths, Science, B<strong>and</strong>, Problem Solving, Design (MYDA) <strong>and</strong>Computer. Primary <strong>students</strong> have access <strong>to</strong> expertise from secondary staff in these areas. T<strong>our</strong>nament ofMind teams will train for the 12 months prior <strong>to</strong> competition with the final team members being selected ontheir ability <strong>to</strong> think laterally <strong>and</strong> their commitment <strong>to</strong> working with a team. A separate brochure is availablefrom the <strong>School</strong> detailing <strong>our</strong> GATS program.LATENESS TO SCHOOL – Students must sign inPunctuality is extremely important. However, on occasions when a student is unavoidably late, s/he mustbring a note signed by the parent/carer explaining the lateness <strong>and</strong> sign in at the <strong>School</strong> AdministrationOffice OR the parent may sign the student in <strong>and</strong> advise of the reason for lateness. This is essential sothat accurate records can be kept, especially in the case of an emergency when evacuation may occur. Parents are reminded that the playground/classrooms are not supervised prior <strong>to</strong> 8:30am.Therefore for safety reasons we ask that you do not send y<strong>our</strong> child <strong>to</strong> school before thistime.Our mission is <strong>to</strong> strive <strong>to</strong> achieve in all endeav<strong>our</strong>s in a happy, caring <strong>and</strong> supportive environment.
