WE GLOBAL NETWORK 5America is a nationof immigrantsThis book is a collection of the stories of immigrants and thecontributions they are making to their families, friends, communities,and cities, from across the Midwest and Rust Belt.The WE Global Network and New America Media partnered to gatherand share these stories of immigrant entrepreneurs helping to rebuildAmerica. The contest, “A Day in the Life of an Immigrant Entrepreneur,”launched in October 2014 and asked for stories about immigrantentrepreneurs and their lives in an effort to spotlight the important rolethey play in our local economies.Individuals living in all participating metropolitan regions submittedstories about immigrants who have started businesses and arecontributing to the economic growth and prosperity of theircommunities. The stories submitted were written by the immigrantentrepreneurs themselves, or by others - family members, friends,colleagues, or customers – to celebrate the immigrant in their livesmaking a difference.The participating regions were determined based upon metros wherethe WE Global Network has active relationships with local organizationsthat were willing to spearhead local outreach efforts. Participatingregions include Chicago, Detroit, Lansing, Minneapolis-St. Paul, St. Louis,Buffalo, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia.We hope you enjoy and are inspired by these stories, and we hope youwill share them far and wide.STORIES FROM AMERICA’S RUST BELT
