PULSARpoint600 seriesPULSARProcess MeasurementDescriptionThe Pulsarpoint 600 series is a range ofultrasonic non invasive liquid and slurrylevel switches. They provide easy toinstall reliable and non intrusive point levelindication. The Pulsarpoint 600 series isused on metal tanks containing liquids andslurries to provide indication of rising orfalling liquid levels.ApplicationThe Pulsarpoint 600 is attached to theouter wall of the tank at a point coincidingwith the level at which indication isrequired. Ultrasonic soundwaves aretransmitted through the side wall of thetank to detect the absence or presence ofthe liquid, by monitoring the characteristicsof the reflected soundwaves. A change in condition isindicated once material reaches the required level. Theoutput may be assigned to indicate a 'wet' or dry' conditionat the required level.OperationThe Pulsarpoint 600 series is non-intrusive by attaching thelevel measurement switch to the outside of the tank, thereis no need to drill or cut the tank wall and there is also nocontact with the fluid being measured. There are no movingparts and therefore no cleaning or maintenancerequirements. This highly reliable non invasive technologycan be applied to many different fluids and once installed iseasily calibrated. Among many typical applications thePulsarpoint 600 will provide over-fill protection, leakdetection or low level liquid alarm to prevent, for instance, pump damage.Pulsarpoint 600 series operates within temperature rangesof -40˚C to + 90˚C. The 600 version provides an outputvia a 1 amp volt free contact changeover. The 610 & 611versions provide 4-20mA point level indication. Simple toinstall using the supplied mounting plate. The 600 seriescan be used in existing process control applicationswithout the need for vessel modification. The 611intrinsically safe version is available for use in flammableatmospheres.A rugged stainless steel enclosure provides a high degreeof protection from bumps, shock and vibrations within atypical industrial environment. The Pulsarpoint 600 series incorporates a uniqueself-check routine which can be initiated from time to timeand which will automatically self-check both system andinstallation integrity.Calibration is simple via a single button with two LEDstatus indicators.Calibration and set-up instructions are illustrated withinthe unit.A liquid level repeatability of ± 1mm can be achievedthrough a tank wall thickness of 2.5mm up to 40mm onmetal tanks providing there is no internal corrosionpresent.Features• Non-invasive point level detection• Relay version (600)• Two wire loop powered version (610)• Intrinsically safe version (611)• Microprocessor controlled• Auto calibrate 'wet' or 'dry'• Alarm 'wet' or 'dry'• Single button setup• Repeatability ±1mm• Unique installation self-check routine.Pulsarpoint 610 attached to vessel using optional self adhesive aluminium plateSpecifying information and wiring diagrams are available on request from Pulsar600 Seriesnon invasive level switchesPulsar ProcessMeasurement Ltd.Oak HouseBromyard RoadWorcester WR2 5HPEngland.Telephone:+44 (0)870 6039 112Fax:+44 (0)870 6039 114e mail:info@pulsar-pm.comWeb site:www.pulsar-pm.comPulsar IncPO Box 800ShalimarFlorida 32579USATelephone:+1 850 609 1777Fax:+1 850 651 4777e mail:info@pulsar-us.comWeb site:www.pulsar-us.com

The sensor to tank contact area should be coated with non melting waterproof silicone compound to providea direct acoustic coupling. The supplied self adhesive aluminium plate will firmly position and clamp the sensor in place.Commissioning and set-up are simple and straight forward.
